Upper School Message

What a wonderful two weeks we've had with our learners, getting reconnected and preparing to settle into our official academic kickoff week. Our learners have been fantastic, helping facilitators fine tune their classrooms so the space works for everyone. With our new theater build out, we are excited for each facilitator to have their own dedicated space, in addition to an official Makery and theater building space in Picasso.
Kris Nilsen, our new college counselor, and I are looking forward to facilitating the 11th grade CAS project, held during Design Tech. Based on the talent we've seen thus far, we can't wait to see how our learners will manifest meaningful community service projects inspired by their passion and vision.

Changes in the UC application
This year the University of California has changed the format of the Personal Statement essay. It is now called the Freshman Personal Insight Questions. Instead of two essays you now respond to four out of eight writing options. For more information and instructions click here.

Kick Back Dance
9-12 Upper School
September 9
6 to 9 p.m.
Kick Back at the first dance of the year while helping the Class of 2017 raise funds for senior events. Dance, eat, and hang with new and old SCVi peers. Pre-sale tickets (and permission slips) are available on
EVENTBRITE only for $12. (Please attach a copy of your online ticket to your permission slip and turn into the main office).
Tickets will be also be available at the door on the night of the dance for
$15.

SCVi Sports Sign Ups
SCVi will be offering the following sports for the 2016-2017 school year. If your learner is interested in participating in any of the following lower school sports (peewee, elementary, or middle school), please email lower school athletic director Tim Alves at tim.alves@ileadschools.org with your learner's name, grade level, and sport(s) interested in. If your learner is interested in participating in any of the follow upper school sports, please email upper school athletic director Casey Blaszczyk at casey.blaszczyk@scvi-k12.org.
 We also need coaches! If you, or someone you know, is interested in coaching, please let us know as our sports program relies entirely on volunteer coaches. Thank you!
Note: PeeWee sports are for grades K-3, elementary sports are for grades 4-6, middle school sports are for grades 7-8, upper school sports are for grades 9-12.

- Elementary: $90
- Middle School: $90
- Upper School Golf & Cross Country: $150
- All other Upper School Sports: $300
