Replica of Mexican Independence Bell donated to Idaho
Last week the Consejo de Comunidades Hispanas A.C., a non-profit organization which supports Mexican migrant families living in the United States, donated a replica of the Mexican Independence Bell to the Mexican community of Idaho. Through the gracious honor of Guadalajara’s entrepreneur and confectioner, Dr. Enrique Michel Velasco, the replica of the Bell of Dolores, the national symbol of the Independence of Mexico, was given so that Mexicans in the United States may continue to preserve a part of the history of their country of origin.
Idaho is only the fifth state in the nation to receive this important national symbol of Mexico. Idaho’s bell, LIBERTAD, will be on display at Nampa’s Hispanic Cultural Center of Idaho.
We wish to thank Dr. Velasco and the Consejo de Comunidades Hispanas A.C. for their generous donation to our state and community.
