MESSAGE FROM MAYOR KLING

Yesterday, it was wonderful to spend time with students from the Mayor's Teen Council at the Idaho State Capitol. Thank you to the many elected officials who were able to take a few minutes out of their busy schedules to connect with them: Representative Kenny Wroten, Representative Brent Crane, Representative Jeff Cornilles, Senator Todd Lakey, and Senator Brian Lenney, Secretary of State Phil McGrane, State Treasurer Julie Ellsworth, and Lt. Governor Scott Bedke.

The Nampa Mayor's Teen Council had an opportunity to learn about the legislative process, visit the Senate Floor, and tour Idaho's beautiful capitol building.

NAMPA'S CITIZEN'S ACADEMY VISITS

PUBLIC WORKS - PART 1

There are only a couple of weeks left in Nampa's first Citizen's Academy schedule! This week about 30 Nampa residents in the class got to see inside our Streets Division, located off Railroad Street, and take a photo on the "chipper" used in our chip seal process (above). The class heard from Public Works Senior Director Tom Points as well as staff from the Streets Division, Traffic Division, Engineering and Fleet Services.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATES

Irrigation Project Begins on Happy Valley Rd March 6

Beginning March 6, the City of Nampa will begin installing new irrigation lines to improve reliability before the irrigation season begins. This project will be done in two areas: the first is on Happy Valley Road near Wagon Road (area 1) and the second is on Wallcott Street and Happy Valley Road (area 2). The project is anticipated to be completed by late April.

Area 1: Crews will be completing a pressurized irrigation connection at Happy Valley Road and Wagon Road and will require a full road closure from Victory Road to Amity Avenue from 3/6-3/8 while crews are in the road. Once the connection is completed, crews will still need to work along the subdivision entrance until mid-March. Residents must temporarily access the subdivision via Whistling Heights Way from Grays Lane while work is occurring.

Area 2: Crews will also be completing a pressurized irrigation connection at Happy Valley Rd and Wallcott St starting March 6 and will require a full road closure from Greenhurst Road to Locust Lane until mid-April. Residents must temporarily access the subdivision via Salmon River Street from Happy Valley Road or Bridgewater Avenue from Greenhurst Road.
