Cameron's Corner

Dear Friends,

This picture of Austin was taken fifteen years ago in the NC mountains. It was the first and last time our family vacationed in a tent. A combination of inexperience and bad weather assured me and Jason that we are people who need a permanent structure - preferably one with indoor plumbing, heating/air conditioning, and electricity.

This Sunday, we will pick back up in 2 Corinthians where Paul uses the image of a tent to expand on what it means to live by faith. According to Paul, we do not lose heart in this lifetime, even if our outward appearances waste away because these bodies are like a tent for our souls. Tents are great for their portability, but they aren’t a place you want to stay forever. In the same way, everything we have on earth is only temporary, a dwelling place designed to carry us through this lifetime until we arrive at our eternal home with Jesus. I hope you will join us

In Christ,

Rev. Cameron Smith

Sharing Christ's love to children in need in the

Lowcountry of South Carolina

This Sunday, we will kick off the 2024 Hands of Christ Season with our Annual Ice Cream Social. This will mark the beginning of our largest outreach event of the year – our opportunity to help children start the school year with brand new clothes and school supplies

Volunteers are at the heart of this program and vital to its success. At the Ice Cream Social, there will be a list of the many ways that you can GET INVOLVED and help on Monday, August 5th, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., when we welcome children and their families to our church for the Hands of Christ Distribution.

Hands of Christ is a 501(c)(3) organization, registered with the South Carolina Secretary of State, and a validated ministry of Charleston Atlantic Presbytery. Since 2003 the organization has served over 67,000 by providing clothing and school supplies just prior to the start of the school year.

Meeting Human Needs

Donating blood is an essential need in that every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. Last week we held our Annual Blood Drive and collected fifteen pints of blood. Each donor received a special Tetris American Red Cross T-shirt and enjoyed ham biscuits from Mary Mena Koches and cookies baked by Martha Hudspeth. We had a great team from the Red Cross and everything went really smoothly. (No spilled blood or fainting!) Thank you to our donors and to Ed Rogers for setting up and handling registration.
