What's Happening at The Literacy & Learning Center
The Literacy & Learning Center is pleased to announce the opening of its North Carolina-certified pre-K program in Highlands. Responding to the growing demand for additional early childhood education in the community, this initiative aims to bridge the gap and provide a nurturing and comprehensive learning environment for children in need of pre-K education.

TL&LC’s pre-K program in Highlands addresses a crucial need in the community. With an increasing number of families seeking pre-K education for their children (approximately 70 children are currently on the wait list for other programs), the planned opening comes as a timely response to ensure that every child has the opportunity to develop foundational skills and thrive academically.
A limited number of tickets are still available! Join us at Wildcat Cliffs Country Club Saturday, June 10 for a fun-filled evening and this worthy cause! To learn more and purchase tickets, click below.
Are you searching for entertaining and educational activities for your child this June? TL&LC has the answer! Each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 1 - 4 pm (select dates still available), campers will be stimulated and challenged while they have fun with Academic Adventures Camp – free of charge!

This summer camp offers a range of enjoyable activities, including phonics and math skills review to help prevent the “summer slide.” This often occurs when students lose some of their academic gains from the prior school year from not keeping them in regular practice.
We are so grateful to Highlands Biological Station for giving Petunia the Turtle a wonderful home during our months of post-flood building repair! She is happily back in her on-site tank, swimming away.
