Updates from LA City and LA County

Testing is currently available for LA County residents with signs or symptoms of COVID-19 or have been contact with a person known to be exposed to someone with a confirmed COVID-19 based on the LA Department of Public Health recommendations. See links below for more details on setting a test appointment.

The LA County Public Health Officer has issued an order to Prohibit Group Events and Gatherings, Require Social Distancing Measures, and the Closure of Certain Businesses. The order states, “….the Los Angeles County Health Officer issued an order to prohibit all indoor and outdoor, public and private events and gatherings within a confined space, where 50 or more members of the public are expected to attend at the same time, to require physical distancing measures and temporary closure of certain businesses. “
Also, if Los Angeles Police Department officers respond to and verify that a large party is occurring at a property, and there’s evidence that the venue has repeatedly engaged in such behavior, the department will request that the city shut off water and power services within 48 hours.

What Do Face Coverings Do?
Before we talk about the power of a face covering, we should start by mentioning what we've learned about COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic. We know that COVID-19 mainly spreads from person to person through respiratory droplets (produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, talks, sings, or raises their voice). These droplets can land in the eyes, mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.

We've also learned that MANY people who are infected with COVID-19 are asymptomatic (have no symptoms). We can’t tell, by just looking at them, whether they’re infected or not.
Have you taken the census yet? The census helps determines how more than a trillion dollars in federal funds will be allocated! Due to the Covid crisis, the deadline has been extended, and you can quickly do it online here: TAKE THE CENSUS  -- Safe, easy, and secure!
