Tax Talk Takes Center Stage On AgCast
On this week's AgCast, hear from Federation Ag Council John Allen Nichols and Legal Intern Taylor Johnston. 
 
They discussed tax implications that will positively impact Alabama farmers, as well as the Faulkner Ag Law Pathway program of which Johnston is a part.

Future State Legislators Visit Home Office
The Federation External Affairs team welcomed three future legislators to the home office July 26. Their conversation will be featured on an upcoming Alabama AgCast.
 
Director of Agricultural Legislation Preston Roberts visited with, from left, Donna Givens, Jennifer Fidler and Frances Holk-Jones. The FarmPAC-endorsed candidates earned the Republican nominations and are expected to prevail in the November general election.

The three women will represent Baldwin County in the Alabama House of Representatives.
Alabama FFA Celebrates Two National Finalists
Wetumpka High School (WHS) students Terrance Crayton and Case Edwards were announced as American Star finalists July 20. The American Star is National FFA's top achievement award.

Crayton will represent the state in the agribusiness category and is Alabama’s first candidate for this award since 1976. Edwards will compete in agricultural placement and is the state’s first-ever candidate in this category.

Crayton and Edwards will compete in the American Star finals during the 95th National FFA Convention in Indiana this fall.

Hall Of Honor Inductees Announced
The Auburn University Ag Alumni Club has announced 2023 Alabama Agriculture Hall of Honor inductees, who will be inducted Feb. 3 in Opelika.

They are:

  • Agribusiness - Davis Lee

  • Government & Education - Ray Hilburn

  • Production - Billy Maples

John Alex Floyd Jr. and Bill Nichols will posthumously receive Pioneer Awards.
Conservation Work Earns Hall Regional Honor
Laslie Hall was inducted into the National Association of Conservation Districts Southeast Region Conservation Hall of Fame.

Hall, a former Montgomery County Farmers Federation president, was honored July 18 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

This award honors individuals who have made an impact on conservation practice or partnerships on the local, state, territory, regional or national levels.
