October 2023 Parent Bulletin

Greetings, Tiger Family!

Fall is finally here! As we embrace October and wrap up the 1st nine weeks, we have been working hard to ensure the success of each of our scholars. This month, we are celebrating Red Ribbon Week, Unity Day, National School Lunch Week, Breast Cancer, and SLEDs. During SLEDs, our PTC will host a Trunk-or-Treat for some family fall fun!

Students will begin taking district assessments the first week of October. Please make sure your scholar is getting a great night's rest. As the nine weeks come to a close, make sure you check your scholar's grades. Communicate any grading concerns to your scholar’s teacher and request a PTC if needed. Our teachers are diligently working to provide high-quality instruction each day to ensure your scholar is making academic strides in all content areas.

Scholars will receive fundraiser information for Deanan's Popcorn; profits from this fundraiser will help reduce your scholar’s activity fees. We will begin taking field experiences, so be on the lookout for permission slips and more information.

Reading Challenge, anyone? Absolutely! We want to increase our scholars' love and passion for reading. We are challenging every student to read at least two books and complete a book information sheet to reflect on what they read. Turn in your completed sheets to your ELA teacher for your name to be placed in the drawing to win one of the awesome prizes!

Thank you for your continued support in making the Northshore campus a great place for student learning.

Hello, Parents and Guardians,

Happy October! This month, we’re covering the topic of Support. This will enable us to engage and explore different ways of supporting your scholars while at home. The CREW topic of the month is Integrity. I will host individual as well as group sessions on integrity. We will also exercise talk therapy and role play to ensure the understanding of integrity and how to implement it into their day-to-day interactions.

Parent Portal Help:

Can't access the Parent Portal to see your scholar's grades or attendance? Complete the form below so you can receive an email to activate your account.

PARENT PORTAL ACCESS FORM

Attendance:

Attendance Matters Every Day! - TEXAS STATE LAW REQUIRES A WRITTEN EXCUSE FROM THE PARENT OR GUARDIAN WHENEVER A STUDENT IS ABSENT FROM SCHOOL.

To change an absence to an excused absence, a parent note or doctor's note must be received in the attendance office no later than three days after the student returns to school. If a note is not received, the absence will remain unexcused (students who miss 10 or more school days may receive an attendance behavior contract and could be subject to compulsory attendance laws). A phone call does not take the place of a written note. Notes can be submitted to Ms. Rocha at jrocha@rhodesschool.org.

As a reminder, school starts at 7:55 AM, and your child is tardy at 8:05 AM. They must be signed in at the front office if you arrive after 8:05 AM. Three tardies are equivalent to one absence, so please bring your scholar to school on time.
