A number of community members have shared feedback about our application process and information presented about the CTG Unified auditions, and we are implementing some changes to reflect that feedback. Thank you for inviting us into your conversations and providing us with what you need and want to ensure we are actionable with our mission, vision, and values to serve the Colorado theatre community. We cannot do what we do without your input, and we always want an open line of communication with all of you.

When creating new services and programs to make long lasting, positively impactful changes for everyone, your communication with us is critical. This is the first time in many years that we have offered a combined audition event for the Colorado theatre community, and we know there is plenty of room to grow now and after completing the auditions in April.

First, we would like to clarify some of the current policies and information regarding the auditions:

1. There is no fee required to submit an audition application. The CTG individual membership fee is only required once selected to audition.

2. In an effort to provide a gateway to the profession for recent or upcoming graduates that do not yet have the required 5 performance credits, CTG will accept any actor who has graduated from a college, university, or similar intensive educational program in the past 2 years or will be graduating by May 31, 2023.

3. For a wide range of mobility needs, Curious Theatre Company has multiple access points with ramps for entering the building and within it. More information will be made available as it gets finalized with the venue. If you have more questions about venue configuration at Curious, venue health and safety logistics while auditioning, or need to contact us about specific access needs for full participation, email us at unifieds@coloradotheatreguild.org

Second, we are making the following changes to the process:

1. We are extending the deadline for actor submissions until March 17, 2023.

2. In an effort to remove economic barriers, actors will be able to request assistance in covering the $50 CTG individual membership fee.

3. While the requirement for 5 performance credits remains in place, we will be accepting ANY non-educational theatre credit (professional, semi-professional, community theatre). Educational credits from High School, college or independent theatre schools will not count.

4.  Actors with some credits, but not enough to meet the above requirements, can apply to become an alternate.

We would specifically like to recognize that our original language about providing opportunities for underserved populations caused harm. We are deeply sorry, and we are making purposeful changes. The intention was always to consider those particular underserved populations as separate groups in our communications. We recognize that the phrasing on the application form did not support that. We have now updated the application to reflect our original goal for more equitable representation at auditions in Colorado by providing dedicated slots for people with disabilities, BIPOC folks, and recent graduates from educational institutions.

As always, feel free to email unifieds@coloradotheatreguild.org with questions, comments, or concerns. You will get a response as quickly as possible.

We also invite you to further collaborate with CTG by joining a committee! CTG is powered through volunteer efforts, and we would love to further integrate our community into our decision making and planning. If you want to get involved, email cotheatreguild@gmail.com expressing your interest.

We appreciate your input and look forward to a stellar audition event!
