New Sermon Summer Series:

“Sharing a good church with the next generation”

On July 14th, we launched a new sermon series titled “Sharing a Thriving Church with the Next Generation.” Inspired by Jaco J. Hamman's book "The Millennial Narrative: Sharing a good life with the next generations," this series draws from the wisdom of the book of Joel to explore Millennials' experiences, aspirations and how we can bridge these gaps to foster deeper understanding and connection. It addresses critical issues such as loss, loneliness, spiritual growth, social justice, and our collective responsibility to create positive change in the world. Join us on July 14th as we embark on this meaningful journey together!

The Falmouth Road Race is coming!

John Wesley United Methodist Church is once again sharing the love with our Falmouth Community and Visitors during the 52nd running of the Falmouth Road Race. We’ll be parking cars, offering bananas and water before the race, opening our restrooms to the public, and distributing cool watermelon and water at the end of the race. The runners love our hospitality, and the participants make free will donations to our church. It’s a win-win. All this takes coordinated effort from each of us. The Trustees have traditionally sponsored this event, but everyone is welcome to join in. We’re looking for donations of cases of water in single disposable bottles (that can’t be purchased in Falmouth). We’ll store the water in the last classroom on the right heading toward the playground. Roche Brothers in Mashpee has donated $100 that we will use to purchase bananas and watermelons. You can help thank Roche Brothers by purchasing water there. On Sunday, we could use some help parking cars and passing out bananas and watermelon slices.

Call or email Steve Adams to volunteer, 774-400-6055, steve.greenpond@gmail.com, or talk to a Trustee today.

Here’s to another successful road race weekend outreach program!

Thank YOU!  Thank YOU!

ICE CREAM SOCIAL and Fundraiser to support the Falmouth Service Center is being planned.

The interfaith clergy association is planning an ice cream social and fundraiser for Sunday August 25 at 6pm at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church. All of our churches are invited to volunteer, contribute baked items and offer a gift basket with a value of $30-$50.

We Need Volunteers for:

·    Bakers

·    Gift Basket Contributors

Your time and talents will make a difference in our community. Let’s come together for a night of joy, community, and delicious ice cream!

Changing Our World for the month of August is for "Fishing for a Mission 22", a nonprofit organization that harnesses the therapeutic potential of fishing to aid veterans still grappling with the hidden scars of war.

The Service Center is in need for Apple Juice - Cheerios and Ensure or Boost. There is a shortage of these items and are most needed at this time.

ESL at John Wesley!

We are entering our 7th year teaching English as a second language to very appreciative students in the greater Falmouth area. This program has been very rewarding for all of the tutors and we think that we have made a positive impact on a very deserving and hard working community.

Teaching English is not as difficult as it might seem. This year, we have an experienced ESL professional who will give workshops to help all tutors, new and old. They will be on Wednesday September 4 and Wednesday September 11 at 6:00 PM in the Fitzgerald Room.

If you are interested in becoming a tutor, please feel free to attend the workshops. If your schedule does not permit this, please contact me directly and I'll be glad to answer any questions.

I hope to see some new faces among the tutors this year.
