Planning & Development:
On-Line Permits & New Kiosk

The city’s online permitting portal is available for all building permits and development plan review types. You can also apply for fire sprinkler permits, sign permits, and tree removal permits. Some permits, like tree-removal permits, can only be applied for online. Payments for permits can be made online, too! Property owners and contractors can apply online at home or at the job site without taking time out of their busy day to drive to City Hall.

Go to the City’s website and find the Permitting Portal under the Government Tab. There are step-by-step instructions with pictures to help you know what you will need to include in your application and to guide you through the online process.
The Building Department launched the online permit kiosk in their front lobby. Contractors and homeowners can by-pass the long lines and apply for their permit at the kiosk. The kiosk has a user-friendly interface, and a handy step-by-step instruction manual is available to guide applicants through the process. Applicants will receive an email confirming that the application has been received. After using the kiosk, repeat customers will find that they don’t even need to come into City Hall and can apply for a permit at their office or even in the field using the City’s online permit portal.

The Building Department is located at 153 Willowbend Road, Peachtree City, GA 30269

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month

PROMISE PLACE ANNOUNCES
TEEN DATING VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH TO PROMOTE HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS

  • Dating violence is more common than many people think. Studies show one in three high school students experience either physical or sexual violence, or both, that is perpetrated by someone they are dating or going out with. 1During February’s Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, Promise Place has partnered with the national campaign of Love Is Respect to promote teen dating violence awareness.
  • Educators, parents, and community leaders along with middle, high school, and college students are encouraged to creatively promote messages about dating violence prevention and raise awareness of what a healthy relationship looks like.
  • Throughout the month, Promise Place will facilitate a series of activities in partnership with community organizations to support Teen Dating Violence Awareness month which includes: Teen Zoom Panels in Fayette, Spalding, Pike, and Upson Counties and Presentations at Local County collaboratives. The year-round program of teen dating violence prevention classes will be held in middle and high schools throughout the three-county area of Fayette, Spalding, and Upson counties.
  • Promise Place is proud to announce its 5th Annual Teen Summit. As youth begin dating, it’s important they are equipped with the necessary tools to help them engage in healthy relationships. Teen Summit offers parents and teens an improved understanding of the ingredients that make up respectful relationships, as well as how to recognize the warning signs and patterns of dating violence.
  • The 2021 Teen Summit’s theme, “#1thing”, will explore what it means to positively impact our communities in supporting teens to engage in and maintain healthy relationships. The summit will be held virtually on Saturday, February 27th on the HOPIN Platform from 11:30 am – 2:30 pm.

Peachtree City’s Annual Senior Homestead Exemption Registration is Underway

Forms for qualifying senior citizens to register for the 2021 Peachtree City Senior Homestead Exemption will be available at City Hall beginning Monday, January 4. Peachtree City residents must register each year for the exemption.

Qualifying PTC homeowners must be age 65 by January 1 of 2020 and must already have applied for the standard Homestead Exemption through the Fayette County Tax Commissioners Office. The household income, which must be less than $30,000, will be calculated on the Federal Adjusted Gross Income of the applicant and spouse. The exemption is a flat rate of $5,000 per home, which would amount to about $34 savings in City property taxes under the city’s current millage rate. Qualifying seniors should bring proof of age and income (a copy of their 2020 tax returns) to City Hall, 151 Willowbend Road, in Peachtree City to file for the exemption.

The deadline to file for 2020 is 5:00 PM on Friday, February 26. Because people may not have their taxes ready at that time, the City will continue to accept proof of income until Friday, April 09, 2021 (but only from those who filed their form by February 26). Residents with questions may contact City Hall at 770-487-7657 or email csr@peachtree-city.org

Little Things That Can Enhance Water Quality
Stormwater runoff containing excessive amounts of pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers are a significant threat to water quality. There are several things one can do to protect the water quality in our lakes and streams;
·        Limit the use of pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers.
·        Do not apply pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers if heavy rain is predicted.
·        Rather than broadcasting herbicides, spot treat only those areas that contain weeds.
·        Maintain a small lawn and keep the rest of your property or yard in a natural state with trees and other native vegetation that require little or no fertilizer.
·        Make sure to properly dispose any unused portions. Do not dump pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers down a storm drain.
