WE NEED SAFE SIDEWALKS: Committee Callout

Sidewalks support a thriving community like ours, which is why we successfully installed sidewalks in Millersville Village to improve safety, accessibility, and connectivity to local businesses - but we're not done!

  • Set aside by the Department of Public Works nine years ago, the engineered pathway on the south side of 56th St from the light at Cathedral High School to the light at Old Colony Road is the final phase of a safe-path project connecting walkers and bikers to the Fall Creek Trail and Millersville Village. The plans sit on a shelf, unfunded.
  • Also designed but unfunded is a fence-protected 56th St median sidewalk from the light at Old Colony Road/Brendon Way S Drive over I-465 to Lawrence and its schools, providing a safe pedestrian walkway.

Would you like to participate with a team working on the strategies necessary to bring these safe connectivity projects to fruition? It takes a village! For more information, contact: millersvilleboard@gmail.com

Its focus includes community awareness and education for bioretention/rain garden planning, installation, and maintenance that targets Purdue Master Gardeners, residential gardeners, conservation agencies and organizations, stormwater professionals, and landscape companies and consultants. The MC Soil and Water Conservation District is a partner on this workshop.
