Upcoming at Or Chadash

Weekly Newsletter

Dear Members of Or Chadash,

Yom Hashoah, also known as Holocaust Remembrance Day, occurs this weekend on the 27th of Nisan - May 5th. Shoah means "catastrophe" or "utter destruction" in Hebrew. It refers to the Holocaust (a Greek word meaning "sacrifice by fire") and the atrocities that were committed specifically against the Jewish community during World War II.

We will have a special Shabbat service this week to commemorate this day - I hope you will join us for this moving service.

This year we are proud to offer service and collection projects, advocacy and community activities, and opportunities to create for others. We hope you will find Mitzvah Day a wonderful opportunity to get involved in the Or Chadash community and make a huge impact on our world. The entire Or Chadash community is encouraged to donate just a few hours of time. If you are unable to attend in person, we still have opportunities for you to help the community. Please take a look at those below. New this year is a Trail Stewardship Program from Hunterdon Land Trust.

Please remember that there are many opportunities to participate In Mitzvah Day even if you have a conflict on May 19th. The Food Pantry has very specific items it is requesting for a focused May distribution to its clientele. Please take a moment to read about the many opportunities to participate in Mitzvah Day 2024.

Thank you in advance for your commitment of time and your generous contributions to support Or Chadash's Mitzvah Day 2024 .

Help shape the future of Or Chadash!

OC Board of Trustees Has Two Openings

We need you! We need your thoughts, your creativity and your insights. We need you to be a part of our group of committed people, dedicated to improving Or Chadash.

Board members manage the general operations of the synagogue and ensure that the spiritual, educational, financial and other needs of the congregation are being met. It is here that you can truly help to shape the future of Or Chadash. (Our meetings are on Zoom and held every 4-5 weeks.)

If you are interested in supporting our community and making a difference at Or Chadash, please reach out to either Dan Freedman (president@orchadash-nj.org) or Ross Weinick ( rweinick@orchadash-nj.org).
