Family Promise is ready to open their new permanent home, The Promise Center, in Flemington -they are just waiting on the state’s final inspection! The current plan is that our congregation would go back to preparing and delivering hot, cooked meals, during set weeks when we partner with another congregation to ensure full coverage of the entire week. The families will have access to a kitchenette where they can warm food up, but there is no stove or oven for cooking.
Mark your calendars for the upcoming 2024 dates at the Promise Center: Homemade meals needed!
- July 28 – August 4
- November 3 – 9
- November 10 – 16
- December 22 – 29
Though this is in the future, we will begin planning now to ensure that we can have plenty of volunteers to bring nutritious meals for our families. Salads, main meals, sides, breads, even desserts are welcome! The idea is to share the work, so one volunteer need not provide the entire meal. We will find out if the delivery should be in disposable containers, or if dishes will be washed and available for return. Delivery would need to occur directly to the Promise Center, unless otherwise agreed upon.
A Signup Genius will be sent out to our whole congregation approximately 2-3 weeks in advance, as we will find out of any dietary restrictions or needs, as well as the number of people. To get some advance notice of interest, if you have any preliminary interest in helping out, please email Alexa Parliyan at parliyan@comcast.net.
Family Promise will let us know if there are other volunteering opportunities as they open and develop an understanding of the needs. As always, gas and grocery cards are always welcome (See: Scrip program! for a win-win).
