Gardening Lunch-N-Learn Series

The Bluebonnet Master Gardeners of Washington County are pleased to present the 2022 “Lunch-N-Learn” series to be hosted on the first Wednesday of each month, February-May and September - November.
The next program for the 2022 series will take place on virtually on Wednesday, April 6, 2022. This session will provide the opportunity for participants to explore care maintenance for a healthy lawn including fertilizer, mowing, and water schedule. The meeting room will open at 11:40am with the program beginning at 12:00pm and concluding at 1:00pm. At the conclusion of each session the speaker and our Washington County Master Gardeners will be available to answer questions. All Master Gardener Lunch-N-Learn programs are free to the public.

Bluebonnet Master Gardeners' Annual Plant Sale

Bluebonnet Master Gardener Association Hosts its Annual Plant Sale on April 9, 2022, from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. or when they sell out. This years’ plant sale will be at the Sealy Historical Park, 211 East Main Street, Sealy.
A wide variety of plants will be available for purchase, including roses, “Texas Superstar” plants, “Texas Native” plants, “Earth Kind” plants, succulents, butterfly-friendly plants, ground covers, herbs, bushes, and a few surprises – something for everyone. There will also be rain barrels, various planters, and other garden items.
All plants are locally sourced to ensure they are climatized for this area. There will be many expert Master Gardeners on hand at the Plant Sale to help you find that special plant and give you instructions for its care. Their knowledge and passion for each plant are sure to inspire.

Private Applicator Training

If you plan on using a state limited use or state restricted use pesticide, such as Grazon P+D, 2 4-D, Weedmaster, etc., and need a license, the Texas AgriLife Extension Service will be sponsoring a Private Applicator Training on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at the Washington County Extension Office Conference Room, 1305 E Blue Bell Road, Brenham. Books and study materials for the course need to be purchased ahead of time for $40.00 at the Extension Office. A registration fee of $10.00 will be charged for the training. The registration fee will include the training and additional study materials. The training will begin at 8:30am and conclude at approximately 12:30pm. Please reserve your spot for the training as soon as possible; seating is limited.

Household Hazardous Waste Saturday

The Twin Oaks Landfill Household Hazardous Waste & Computer Collection Event is a FREE event to the residents of Brazos Valley.
BRING your household paints, thinners, batteries, computers/electronics, old medications, lawn pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, motor oil, gasoline, antifreeze.
Items that will NOT be accepted include: tires, freon-containing units, ammunition, radio-active waste, 55-gallon quantities, medical sharps, empty paint/chemical containers.
**NO COMMERCIAL GENERATED WASTES WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Multi-County New Landowner Series - Pond Management

The May meeting for the 2022 series will take place on Friday, May 20, 2022 at the Washington County Expo Sales Facility located at 1305 East Blue Bell Road in Brenham. This session will provide the opportunity for attendees to learn about factors to consider when identifying a site for and constructing a new pond, aquatic vegetation management and control, fish stocking rates, and pond ecology. This is a great opportunity to network with other new landowners and learn about resources that can be of great assistance to you in establishing and/or managing a pond for your property.
Also, if you have a pond weed you would like identified please bring it and we will be glad to identify it for you. Any plant sample needs to be as fresh as possible, include leaves and roots, and flower (if applicable).
Two CEU (1 IPM; 1 Gen) will be available for licensed pesticide applicators. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity!
