"Rocking for a Cure" is looking for volunteers, buffet sponsors, the greatest bands in the area, comedians and anyone else who would like to make this event a success.  There will be food, drinks, great entertainment, silent auction, raffles and more, all to benefit Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Foundation.

The event is planned for Sunday, July 3rd, from 6:00 pm to midnight at The Seaport Inn & Marina, 110 Middle Street, Fairhaven. New Bedford's fireworks, in the harbor, can be seen from this event on the outside patio tiki bar. Tickets will be $20 in advance and $30 at the door. 35th Year Class Reunion:  Fairhaven High School Class of 1976 has announced the details of their 35th Year Class Reunion. The Great Golf Ball Drop to Benefit Hospice:  

The Great Golf Ball Drop fundraising event will be held on Friday, May 13th from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. A helicopter will fly over The Kittansett Club, 11 Point Rd., Marion and drop 1500 numbered balls over a make-shift pin on the grounds.  

Chances are $10 each and winners will receive $1500 for the first ball in the hole, $1000 for the ball closest to the pin, and $500 for the ball farthest from the hole.   

Following the Great Golf Ball Drop, guests are invited to stay at The Kittansett Club for exquisite food, open bar, entertainment by Truman Terrell, and a unique silent auction featuring trips, tickets and experiences including a week golf stay at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.  Donation: $100 per person (to benefit the hospice program). "Spring Song" Concert: Mendelssohn's beautiful "Spring Song" and Rachmaninoff's lovely "Lilacs" together with other delightful music will celebrate the coming of spring when flutist Wendy Rolfe and soprano Patrice Tiedemann combine talents in a concert on Sunday, May 1st, at 3:00 pm at the First Congregational Church, 28 Main Street. The featured artists will be partnered by pianist Cassandra Morgan. The concert will raise funds to support the First Congregational Church's annual Cantata Sunday, which assembles an area-wide group of singers and instrumentalists during the Christmas season to perform a major choral liturgical composition under the direction of FCC Choir Director Cassandra Morgan. Coalition for Buzzards Bay 23rd Annual Meeting: The Coalition for Buzzards Bay will hold its 23rd Annual Meeting at the new Buzzards Bay Center, 114 Front Street, Downtown New Bedford on Thursday, May 5th at 6:00 pm. The evening will begin with a reception at 6:00 pm, including a cash bar and light hors d'oeuvres. The meeting will follow at 7:00 pm and will include a discussion of the organization's 2010 accomplishments, election of Board Members, and presentation of 2011 Buzzards Bay Guardian Awards to two recipients. The Buzzards Bay Guardian Award is the highest honor bestowed by the Coalition for Buzzards Bay to a citizen volunteer, as an organization, or as a public official or employee who have demonstrated outstanding service in the clean-up, restoration or protection of the bay.  

The meeting will include a talk and discussion with Jon Mueller, Vice President of Litigation for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) in Maryland, who will speak about CBF's precedent-setting work to cleanup nitrogen pollution in the Chesapeake and the legal and political implications for other waterways like Buzzards Bay. Mother's Day Workshop for Children: Even children know that nothing says "I love you" better than flowers. On Saturday, May 7th from 9:00 am to 10:30 am children ages 4 through 10, accompanied by an adult, are invited to create a floral arrangement and card for mom's special day. The Rotch Jones Duff Museum will provide the container, plants and instruction. One arrangement per child, $5.00. New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park to Host Volunteer Day & All-American Cookout: 

Will be held on Saturday, May 7, from 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM, New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park will host a Volunteer Day & All-American Cookout, a volunteer-driven initiative designed to provide our national park with the people-power to ready the park for the upcoming summer season and engage communities in the National Park experience.

Following the morning's projects will be a complimentary cookout in the National Park Visitor Center Garden for those volunteering, sponsored by the Whaling History Alliance. The event kicks off with volunteer check-in at the park visitor center at 33 William Street, downtown New Bedford, where participants will receive a complimentary t-shirt. 5th Annual Bayou N' Boogie Festival:  Lagniappe Sal's Productions presents the 5th Annual BAYOU N' BOOGIE FEST Friday, May 27th thru Sunday, May 29th. The festival will be held at their new home,  the 30-acre FRANCIS FARM located at 27 Francis Farm Rd, Rehoboth, Ma.

Uncle Cornelius is a newly formed band from the Cape Cod area bringing a mixture of funk, blues, rock, reggae, and R & B. With an eclectic list of covers and originals, each member brings their own individual style and influences to the table to create a very interesting sound. All ages are welcome to attend.
