Monday Evening Public Lecture:

The Cross and the Rainbow: The Deep Secret Inside the Gospels and Inside of Life Itself

Before Jesus, the biblical sign of God’s unshakeable fidelity was the rainbow. After Good Friday, the cross is now the sign of that fidelity. It is not so much that we misunderstand this mystery but rather that we do not probe deeply enough into its richness. What are the deep “secrets” and “truths” revealed in the passion and death of Jesus? How is the cross now the ultimate rainbow? A reflection on the paschal mystery.

Tuesday to Thursday Retreat Theme:

Entering into the Cycle of Death - Resurrection - Grieving - Ascension - Pentecost -

The Mystery of Transformation

Jesus’ undergoing the Paschal Mystery is a paradigm for us to follow. How do new life and new spirit appear in our lives? How do we name our deaths, claim our births, grieve what’s lost, let our losses bless us, and then receive new spirit for our lives? How do we learn to live peacefully inside of our own skins? The paschal mystery is the secret. How do we undergo paschal transformation?

The Oblates prioritized work in four areas: ecological justice, reconciliation with Indigenous peoples, solutions to poverty, and challenging unjust practices of some Canadian extractive industries in countries of the Global South. If you would like to receive the Centre’s bilingual, bi-weekly electronic newsletter (monthly during the summer months), simply send a request to centreoblat@omilacombe.ca
