Exciting news, PMI Members!
I'm Linda McIntosh, and I'm thrilled to announce that PMI UK has undergone a reorganization among the board. I previously held the position of Director of Technology and website tools, but now I'm your Volunteer Board member, Director for AI Program Management. This shift aligns us with the AI strategic path forward set by our CEO, Pierre Le Manh and the Chair, PMI Board of Directors, LuAnn Piccard. The main message at this year’s PMI Leadership Institute (LIM) Meeting 2024 was embracing AI, specifically generative AI models and tools, to enhance and improve the lives of Project Managers.
Pierre said, “At PMI we are going to lead the transformation of AI in Project Management.” LuAnn echoed Pierre and added that we should embrace an entrepreneurial mindset: be multifaceted, travellers, leaners, and pilots. Co-collaborate but set the path and lead by taking the lead and going first to make things happen. The guest speaker, Philip Keil, pilot, who presented the story of Sully Sullenberger, also a pilot, who landed in the Hudson River in New York talked about thinking outside the box. Don't fear decisions, fear indecision, then act. If the information you have feels right, then just do it, listen to your inner compass.
So how does this relate to generative AI? AI is the new path forward in technology, instead of being apprehensive about making a change collaborate to make an impact to our and the world by following and understanding these three example components:
- Domain knowledge is helpful but getting things done is project management.
- Selling an AI product is great, but without PM’s delivering how can customers achieve their mission goals?
- When PM’s deliver successfully, they elevate our world and amplify the numerous components such as AI driven productivity solutions and AI powered tools and knowledge platform.
At PMI, we are a community. We share knowledge, discuss strategies, learn, mentor, and give back to deliver the most impact in an ever-growing global AI community that has crossed boundaries around the continents. Check out the PMI AI Infinity tool. Just sign in with your membership and start your prompt questions. PMI is beta testing GPT4 Turbo. Here are two sample prompts: (1) I am a project manager migrating SAP to the Cloud. What steps should my project plan look like? Output in milestone format. (2) How do I create an agile plan for the migration of SAP to the cloud.
Who wants to join me in assisting PMI to be the leading change agents for AI in Project Management? Let's make a difference together! Please reach out to Jodi Walker our PMI wonderful admin assistant.
Best regards,
Linda McIntosh

When we speak about “project management tools” we tend to mean software such as MS Project, Primavera, or Trello. However, all project manager use simpler, non-IT tools such as Stakeholder Engagement Matrix, RACI, 5Hows etc, to help them through specific tasks in the day-to-day management of a project. Often these are tools that they have come across and are not widely shared. In this discussion we want to explore the tools and techniques that are being used that may be of value to other project managers. We all have our favourite tools. Come along and share yours and learn some new ones.
