All Fellows Luncheon: It's Not Too Late to Register!

Registration is ongoing for the Annual All Fellows Luncheon and Mid-Year Meeting on September 18, 2024 in Seattle. The luncheon will include a panel moderated by Melissa Kibler, immediate past Chair of the College, titled "The Tech Industry and Crisis Management: Kindred Spirits?" This panel will provide Fellows the opportunity to hear from legal, financial, and investment experts with roots in restructuring who now play senior roles at some of Seattle’s leading technology and telecommunications companies.
The luncheon will also feature the 2024 DEI Excellence Award and updates on College and Foundation activities. In addition, several of the committees of the College will be meeting in person. All will take place at:

Bankruptcy Update 2024: Splits and Confounding Issues Destined for the Supreme Court
The panel will discuss the most important bankruptcy decisions in the last year, from Bankruptcy Courts to the United States Supreme Court. Emphasis will be on the cases that have moved, changed, developed, or significantly affected existing law. Sixth Circuit Educational Program Honoring Former College Chair and President Chris Meyer

Registration is ongoing for the Educational Program in memory of our dear friend and former College Chair and President Chris Meyer, hosted by the 6th Circuit Fellows. The program will start at 4 p.m. on October 8, 2024 at the Union Club in Cleveland, Ohio and will begin with a brief tribute to Chris, followed by an outstanding panel of College Fellows who will discuss “Liability Releases for Nondebtor Third Parties After Purdue Pharma.” The Hon. Jeffrey Deller will moderate, and the Hon. Laurel Isicoff, Prof. Ralph Brubaker, and Fellow Jamie Sprayregen will serve as panelists. Drinks and light appetizers will follow. The entire program is free of charge and is open to both College Fellows and the public. Seventh Circuit Seminar
October 18, 2024
Join the Fellows of the Seventh Circuit for their annual Seminar on October 18, 2024 in Chicago. The seminar is free for all attendees and will be held at the Jenner & Block Conference Center at 353 N. Clark St. Chicago, IL 60654.
The program will consist of five panels discussing issues and recent case developments in Chapter 11, subchapter V, alternative forums, and tools for restructuring and consumer bankruptcies. Lunch will be provided, during which Keynote Speaker Prof. William Baude will discuss the present state of the economy and the upcoming election and the effect on the economy.

Second Annual Howard Dreams Conference
November 6, 2024
Save the date for the Second annual DREAMS (Discovering Restructuring Expertise and Mentorship Symposium) at Howard University School of Law, with portions simulcast to other HBCU law schools. This event will feature judges, professors, practitioners and other professionals in the insolvency field, and will include student involvement in all panels. The topics will provide insight into the bankruptcy and insolvency profession, promote a pipeline for employment opportunities, and foster open dialogue on topics related to inclusion and opportunity in the insolvency space.

Fourth and D.C. Circuit Moot Court Event

The Education Committee of the Fourth and DC Circuits is pleased to announce a 2025 American College of Bankruptcy Moot Court on Monday, February 17, 2025 (Please find the application package here.)
The event is co-sponsored by the American Bankruptcy Institute.
We hope to hold the moot in-person at the Prettyman Courthouse, 333 Constitution Avenue N.W., Washington D.C., 20001.
The day promises to be a great opportunity for the talented students who compete, as they gain experience and get valuable feedback from the judges who will serve as moot court judges.
FAQS on the regional moot:
- Applications are due by 5 p.m. Eastern on December 6, 2024. (Early applications happily accepted.)
- We anticipate three preliminary rounds with each team presenting arguments for the petitioner and the respondent, and a final round.
- Teams do not need to submit briefs. (Teams who have not prepared the brief required for the Duberstein, however, might be disadvantaged in preparing their arguments.)

Class 36 Induction Ceremony & Educational Program
March 20-22, 2025
We are back in Washington, D.C. for the Induction of the 36th Class! The ceremony will be held at the Smithsonian Portrait Gallery Atrium on Friday, March 21, 2025.
Committee and Board meetings as well as the education sessions will be held at the Grand Hyatt Washington, 1000 H Street NW, Washington, DC 20001, March 20, 21 and 22, 2025.
Registration will be released in early December, 2024.
