Simple Charity Registration - annual state charity registration made easy!

The National Council of Nonprofits and Simple Charity Registration are partnering to simplify the annual state registration process and save your nonprofit time and money, freeing up valuable resources for your mission.

SimpleCharityRegistration.com makes it easy and affordable for nonprofits to manage the arduous annual state registration process and remain compliant with state regulations.

Simple Charity Registration, like TurboTax, determines which states you need to register with, asks the right questions, fills out all your forms and provides simple filing instructions.

The 30 minute webinar will provide an overview of how SimpleCharityRegistration.com works and how small and large nonprofits can save time and money using the software while freeing up valuable time to support your mission.

Financial Accounting Standards Board: Accounting Standards Update [Webinar]
Presented by David Rottkamp, CPA, Audit Partner & Not-for-Profit Practice Leader, Grassi & Co. and Nina Bahazhevska, CPA: Nina is an Audit Manager for Grassi & Co.'s Not for Profit Practice
FREE and Open to NYCON Nonprofit Members Only.

financial-planner.jpgAs many of you may already know, The Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) issued the long-awaited proposed Accounting Standards Update (ASU) for Not-for-Profit Entities and Health Care Entities and also Presentation of Financial Statements of Not-for-Profit Entities. The proposed standards represent the most significant changes in nonprofit reporting rules since 1993. FASB sought to make nonprofits more easily comparable through their financial reporting, and to provide donors and lenders with liquidity information so they could better assess the financial health of the NFPs they are interested in supporting. Additional disclosures will also more succinctly identify board designated funds.

All of these changes might sound a little overwhelming to the average nonprofit Executive Director, Fiscal Officer or Board Member. Practically speaking, what does this really mean for your nonprofit? How do the changes translate to what you see in your audited financial statements? Does this change how and what we prepare for the audit? Will these changes effect what we see on the form 990? Join us for a 90-minute webinar giving practical guidance for the "non" accountant and seasoned CFO alike.

We've heard about the importance of messaging and marketing and their role in fund development for nonprofits.  We know that, in order to reach people who might care about our cause and give something (time, talent and treasure), we have to "sell" what we do to the right audience. Luckily for us, marketing and sales talk has given way to a relationship based "authentic engagement" and content marketing movement. Though the principles of "engagement" may feel more promising for fundraising and perhaps like a better "fit" for nonprofits, they certainly come with their own challenges. In this two-part workshop we will focus on how nonprofits can:

    • Be true to who they are.
    • Be honest with those that care about them.
    • Be kind and generous to donors and others.
    • Create a safe place for valuable conversation.
    • Ask for help and/or feedback.
Nonprofits who have a Board and Staff Member attend will qualify to apply for the 2015 Southern Tier Capacity Building Mini-Grant Program, as well as special assessment support offered directly by the New York Council of Nonprofits. The  Mini-Grant Program and special assessment assistance are supported by United Way of Broome County, The Stewart W. and Willma C. Hoyt Foundation, The Community Foundation for South Central New York, Conrad and Virginia Klee Foundation, and United Way of Delaware and Otsego Counties, Inc.
