Winter has definitely delivered multiple “wake-ups” about the value of preparedness! And Spring promises to pile on more. Just in time, we have lots to share about upcoming events for everyone in your family, barn, club, and neighborhood. 


Whether you’re a Pet Parent, Equestrian, Caregiver, Club or Community Leader, there’s an activity to help you brush up on your animal emergency prep, or learn new skills.

This Animal Preparedness Event Calendar includes all kinds of opportunities, ranging from virtual and live Pet Prep classes, an In-Person Barn Basics Workshop, to Hands-on Animal Technical Rescue trainings.

Attend this free workshop from the comfort of your home, office, or at Hillside Farms Education Center.


In this workshop, we will explore the essential steps and strategies to ensure the safety and well-being of our beloved pets, equines, and backyard farm animals in the face of emergencies. From natural disasters to unforeseen events, it is crucial to be prepared and equipped with the knowledge needed to protect and care for our animals.


Through a combination of informative talks and interactive discussions, this workshop will teach guests how to create an Emergency Action Plan tailored specifically for animals.


Whether you are a pet owner, backyard farmer, homesteader, or involved in animal-related organizations, this workshop will provide valuable insights and tools that will enable you to rise to the occasion and safeguard the lives of animals when it is needed most.

This outstanding course is a must for anyone who wants to understand and develop greater awareness of hazards we may encounter during and after natural disasters or in common everyday incidents, fire behavior, power line safety, and more.


This course fulfills the yearly All Hazards Safety Training requirements for many volunteer programs.


Animal Technical Rescue (ATR) Trainings with ResQFAST

HALTER Project Scholarships are available for Fire-Rescue, SAR, Vets and RVTs, and volunteer DSWs. Details at ResQfast.com 

ATR - TECHNICIAN LEVEL TRAININGS

Provides knowledge &skills to prepare to respond to an animal rescue in a safe and effective manner.


This course meets and exceeds NFPA 1670 Chapter 9 and Annex J standards and covers the most likely animal species that first responders are called to rescue and manage: cattle (beef and dairy), horses, including working horses, (police mounts, SAR), companion animals and working dogs (SAR, K-9). ATR- Technician- 20 students max.

HALTER Project is bringing Home & Ranch Readiness to the Fire & Earthquake Expo at the Cloverdale Citrus Fair!


Everything you need to help you ramp up your prep for pets, equines, and livestock will be at the Home & Ranch Readiness Corral.

  • Watch responders rescue pets in an exciting, live disaster simulation drill.
  • Meet many of the regional Animal Disaster Response resources, and how they help the animals affected in natural disasters.
  • Pick up FREE Animal Preparedness Workbooks for every families, seniors, barns & farms, and Spanish-speakers.
