Dear Friends,

It's the end of Q1 2024. Let's take a moment to let that sink in.

There are many exciting things on the horizon... as spring has sprung, so it appears have we!

As always you will find our upcoming April events below (HR Roundtable, Dayton Stammtisch, and SUSTAIN 2024) - as well as a request for assistance regarding our Annual Gala on May 15th. If you have a table, we ask that you contact Claudia to let her know if you plan to use it and to what degree.

IF YOU ARE AN SME (Small-Medium Enterprise) the EACC Network would like to ask for your participation in our 2024 Transatlantic Barometer survey - a 5-minute survey designed to collect insights and data from SMEs in the US and EU who are contemplating expansion "across the pond".

EACC Greater Cincinnati is also excited to partner with the State of Ohio, AMIP and UC Digital Futures on the first COLLABORATE TO INNOVATE Conference for Southwest Ohio taking place on May 1st. Designed to connect local manufacturing innovators with execution partners to facilitate and accelerate local innovation.

We are also DELIGHTED to welcome 4 new members in March, including returning member Haag-Streit, who joins us as an Envoy member. This Swiss company has an impressively well-organized manufacturing floor, and we look forward to welcoming both CEO Olaf Felske and COO Daniel Todaro into the fold.

Last but not least, we have 2 thought leadership articles this month, both of which offer opportunities for COST-EFFICIENCY. They are both highly recommended reads!

This invitation-only industry c-suite event will look at ALL aspects of environmental consciousness and opportunities for industrial operations to go green! Hosted by the Cincinnati Zoo (new elephant enclosure perhaps?!), whose green journey continues to make headlines, this event will cover all opportunities from energy savings to waste management to packaging solutions to facilities maintenance. Contact the EACC if you're a nonmember or know someone who should be on the guest list.

Annual Gala 2024 - CALL TO ACTION!

We are outgrowing the Drees Pavilion!

If you are an Envoy or Ambassador member with an allocated table, please let Claudia know whether you will be using your table in full or in part (or not at all) as soon as you are able!

This year's Gala will have a French flavor in honor of our Board Chair, Nelly Bonniol, but also in honor of CFM's 50th Anniversary. The Gala brings together business teams and business friends in a friendly European atmosphere, with a keynote from - this year - the French Ambassador to the US.

2024 TRANSATLANTIC EXPANSION BAROMETER

Entering the year 2024, new opportunities and potential hurdles have appeared for businesses with foreign trade and investment projects. Notable regulations such as the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) in the US and the EU’s 2020 Green Deal have opened new markets.

The European American Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with OCO Global, is launching a study that focuses on European and US expansion opportunities for mid-size businesses. It will provide a better understanding of how these players perceive new opportunities in these markets, identify potential hurdles or risks of investing on each side of the Atlantic, analyze potential gaps between sectors and origin countries, and provide recommendations.

ABC, XYZ, FTZ? What does it mean?

FTZ is the acronym for Foreign Trade Zone. The Foreign Trade Zone Program has been around since the 1930’s but has not garnered much attention over the years unlike Free Trade Agreements and other government programs created to reduce barriers to imports/exports and increase international trade. But FTZs can have a significant impact on individual businesses and the US economy as a whole!
