  • Unusual and uncommon mental health resources

Dear Valued Clients,

I hope this message finds you in good health and spirits. It is with a sense of both excitement and responsibility that I write to you today.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of supporting you on your journey towards improved mental health and well-being, and I want to continue offering you the highest quality of care possible.

As many of you already know, I have been devoted to supervising and nurturing the growth of aspiring psychotherapists with a Masters Degree in counseling. These interns bring a fresh perspective, updated knowledge of mental health theories, and the latest research findings to our therapeutic community. Their commitment to learning and their passion for helping others are truly commendable.

However, as we strive to maintain the excellence you have come to expect from our services, we must make some adjustments to ensure the continued quality of our work. In the next six weeks, there will be a modest increase in our therapy fees, with the new rate set at $215 per session. This adjustment will enable us to provide even more comprehensive support for our interns and further enhance the quality of care we offer.

I want to assure you that this decision was not made lightly. With the expansion of our team and the increasing demand for our services, it has become necessary to allocate additional time and resources to properly support our interns. Each of them is diligently supervised, ensuring that every session is a reflection of our commitment to excellence. Your ongoing support allows us to maintain these standards.

While we understand that a fee increase can be a concern, and if you find it necessary to explore more affordable therapy options and work with another of InnerSight therapist or an intern, please rest assured that your case will not be starting from scratch. With your consent, all the careful considerations and insights gained during your time with us will be transferred to your new therapist, ensuring a seamless transition.

I want to emphasize that continuing as a client of one of our interns has its own unique benefits. Not only do you benefit from their fresh knowledge and innovative approaches, but each session is also supervised by me and other experienced psychotherapy supervisors. This dual-layer of support ensures that you receive the highest level of care.

I want to express my deepest gratitude for entrusting us with your mental health journey. Your well-being remains our top priority, and we are committed to providing you with the best possible care during these changes.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding these updates, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I am here to support you every step of the way.

Thank you for your continued trust in our services, and I look forward to our ongoing journey together.

Kindest regards,

Svetlana Antonyshyn, RP

UPLIFT AND NURTURE YOUR WELL-BEING

Discovering the Healing Magic of Forest Bathing

 (Shinrin-Yoku)

In our fast-paced, modern world, the idea of finding solace and healing in the embrace of nature may seem unconventional. Yet, the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku, or "Forest Bathing," has been gaining recognition as an extraordinary and highly effective resource for mental health and well-being.

What is Forest Bathing? Shinrin-Yoku, which translates to "taking in the forest atmosphere" or "forest bathing," is a simple yet profoundly impactful practice that involves immersing oneself in nature. Originating in Japan in the 1980s, this therapeutic technique emphasizes mindfulness and sensory engagement in natural settings, typically dense, tranquil forests.

How Does It Work? The practice of Forest Bathing is remarkably simple: You enter a forest, slow down your pace, and engage your senses. Rather than hiking or exercising, you aim to soak in the atmosphere. This includes listening to the sounds of birds and rustling leaves, feeling the texture of tree bark, and inhaling the fragrant scent of woodland foliage. It's about being fully present in the natural environment.

The Healing Power of Forest Bathing

The benefits of Forest Bathing extend beyond the superficial. Numerous studies have shown that spending time in nature, especially forests, can have a profound impact on mental health:

1.           Stress Reduction: Forest Bathing has been shown to significantly reduce stress hormone levels, leading to a state of relaxation and calm.

2.           Improved Mood: Time in nature can boost mood and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.

3.           Enhanced Creativity: The natural setting of a forest can stimulate creative thinking and problem-solving.

4.           Enhanced Immune Function: Some research suggests that exposure to phytoncides, natural compounds emitted by trees, may boost the immune system.

5.           Better Sleep: Forest Bathing can promote better sleep patterns, leading to improved overall well-being.

6.           Connection to Nature: It fosters a sense of connection to the natural world, which has its own therapeutic benefits.

Trying Forest Bathing for Yourself The beauty of Forest Bathing lies in its accessibility. You don't need special skills, equipment, or a specific location. Simply find a nearby forest, park, or natural area, and give yourself permission to slow down and immerse yourself in the natural world.

As unconventional as it may seem, the healing magic of Forest Bathing has the potential to transform your mental health and well-being. So, the next time you find yourself in need of a mental recharge, consider stepping into the serene embrace of nature and experiencing the profound benefits of Forest Bathing for yourself.
