NEW EXPUNGEMENT DEPARTMENT
New Expungement Department
We're excited to introduce our new expungement department, a pivotal step forward in our commitment to providing accessible and equitable justice. Our initiative is specifically designed to streamline the process for those seeking to clear their records by eliminating the financial and logistical barriers. Under this new system, individuals with cases in multiple courthouses across Cook County will no longer face the burden of paying separate filing fees at each location. Instead, we have simplified the process by introducing a single expungement filing fee applicable to Cook County. This change is part of our ongoing efforts to support and empower our community, ensuring that everyone has access to justice and assistance to move forward.
You can click here to learn more about the expungement process.

MAKING HISTORY:
Women's Right to Privacy Initiative
We are so excited to make the historic announcement of the Women's Privacy Initiative. In 2022, we spearheaded legislation to safeguard the privacy of women who have been victims of violent sexual acts. Building on these efforts, we are introducing an initiative to seal and protect ALL records containing women's reproductive health matters. Too often, reproductive health and fertility treatment matters are discussed in open courtrooms, creating public records with private information. We must ensure reproductive health remains a private matter and that details shared in courtrooms around Cook County may never be used against women, criminally or civilly.
For more information about this initiative, please click here.

When we are out at Community Events, we offer two (2) options to bring out. The first would be our Resource Table, which is used when we engage with our community at local events. This table is a comprehensive display featuring detailed information about all the court divisions within the Cook County Circuit Court system. We offer an in-depth look at our services' wide range of resources, lists, and explanations. Our goal is to empower our community members with a clearer understanding of how our court system works, the array of services we offer, and how we can guide them as they navigate court-related matters.
In addition to this, the second option would be our "Clerk in the Community" program. This special project aims to simplify e-filing processes for our users. Whether it's about setting up an account, locating the necessary forms, filing cases, or even checking for an outstanding warrant, our dedicated team is there to provide hands-on assistance. We also offer guidance for individuals looking to find out if they have any pending court fines, providing detailed information on how to settle them. Furthermore, our Clerks are ready to provide answers and support to those with questions.
Our commitment to serving our community is unwavering.
If you would like us to attend your event, please email us at gjmunoz@cookcountycourt.com.
