Things were not going well for Taylor when she met a member of Family Promise of SEFL’s staff at her place of work. She had been living in a toxic environment and had recently lost the person who was the biggest support system in her life, so seeing our staff member’s shirt was a blessing in the right place at the right time. She reached out to us.
Taylor entered our program with her daughter and was able to receive long-term housing support via a housing voucher. Taylor graduated from our program in less than a month, having created a rigorous budget plan with her case manager. During this time, she was able to pay off all her debt while also saving up first, last, and security for a new apartment. We helped Taylor work towards her personal goals during her case management sessions, and even helped her daughter receive a cheerleading scholarship with support from our partnering congregations!
After graduating from our program, Taylor and her family decided to carry on with case management and mental health counseling sessions to continue working on personal growth and processing the trauma of the past. Taylor is an active member of our community, regularly attending events and staying engaged with our program. She keeps us in the loop with her successes and has recently begun the process of enrolling at her local community college in hopes of attaining her bachelor's degree. She is a spectacular mother and continues to be very active in her daughter’s life.
