United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley Raised Over $25 Million During Annual Campaign

United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley raised a record-breaking $25,002,145 during its annual fundraising campaign, marking 14 consecutive years of growth for the nonprofit. The campaign was chaired by Tony and Adrienne DaRe of BSI Corporate Benefits, (pictured), with a specific emphasis on the region’s rising mental health needs. The campaign was led by BSI Corporate Benefits CEO Tony DaRe, who saw the need and heard it personally as they visited United Way Community Schools and Healthy Aging Community Hubs.

United Way announced the results during Celebration of Caring, presented by Crayola, which celebrated the collaborative spirit and profound impact achieved through the dedication of organizations, United Way donors, volunteers, and partners positively impacting the lives of over 175,000 people this year. Over 120,000 people were connected to food, housing, and mental health services, and quality of life was improved for nearly 10,000 older adults and caregivers. Over 40,000 students were supported so they could thrive in school.

Advocate for a Working Pennsylvanians Tax Credit to Reduce State Income Taxes for Workers

The Working Pennsylvanians Tax Credit, is a successful anti-poverty program in America that would return money back to working Pennsylvanians. The policy promotes work, and encourages economic growth in our state as those refunds get invested in the local economy.

House Bill 1272, introduced in the Senate, creates the Working Pennsylvanians' Tax Credit, a 25% elective, refundable state Earned Income Tax Credit. This program would help low-income and middle-income families, including essential workers who United Way calls Asset-Limited, Income-Constrained, Employed (known as ALICE), afford childcare, food, transportation, clothes, and other household expenses.

For every $1 spent on a 25% state Earned Income Tax Credit, Pennsylvania receives $1 back in economic growth and saves $2 dollars in social spending.

Please us the link to contact your state Senator and ask them to support HB 1272 and to ask their leadership to take action on the legislation!
