"The Great Decluttering"
Rev. Denis Paul and Lee Cowan
Nadia Bolz-Weber is a badass, tatted ex-junkie Lutheran pastor who has a slightly different idea about what "the church" (i.e. communities of faith) will look like in the future. A good idea? Maybe.

Check out our fabulous scarecrow named Chalice! They are still up at Saugatucket park along with all the other scarecrows, so go visit before Friday!
This Sunday, service will begin with a ritual of creating a memory tree to honor our beloveds who have passed on.

A word has been thrown around a lot lately that is making me very uncomfortable: Genocide.
Acknowledging that I have no personal stake in the conflict, and while I find the civilian death toll in Palestine as upsetting as the Hamas attack on Israel, I feel like the use of the word can be — or at least come across as — anti-Semitic. After all, I can’t imagine anything worse than accusing Jews of genocide, given the Holocaust and thousand of years of oppression. Jews committing genocide would be the ultimate act of hypocrisy. And everyone hates a hypocrite. (But that’s a whole sermon in itself). READ MORE HERE...

Sidekicks
Anna Wintour is the ice queen of high fashion. Why shouldn’t she hang out with the frozen princess Elsa?
Sometimes, great pairs are the pairs you would never expect. That’s why we want to pair you up with someone you might not otherwise connect with.
“Sidekicks” is a way of encouraging all of us at UUCSC to develop new, unexpected friendships.
Email Lee or let Rev Denis know you’re interested, fill out this simple form or the paper version in the Oneto Room, and see who we pair you with. You don’t have to give them a kidney. You don’t have to promise to have thanksgiving together til 2062. Maybe just go for a walk or have ice cream together…. And see what comes of it.
Sidekicks may just be a new way to help you be you. #UBeU

Fire Drill Oct. 29 Immediately after services
If you will want your coat, KEEP it during the service. The drill will be timed. We practice evacuation so in a real-life situation we know exactly how to do so in a timely, expedient, and orderly manner. Lives could be at stake. More information will be given at the Oct 29 services. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!
