It Takes a UU Village
Rev. Lee Anne and Rev. Greta Jo Seidohl
| |
|
Nothing is more life-affirming or hopeful than the innocent love of young children. Join us on Sunday as Rev. Lee Anne and Rev. Greta Jo Seidohl lead the congregation in blessing three of UUCNH’s youngest.
The service will be followed by the mid-year congregational meeting. The Youth Group will be holding their acclaimed Soup Sale and the Board will be providing brunch items.

Our Share the Plate recipient for January 2024 will be the Council of Three Rivers American Indian Center (COTRAIC). This non-profit organization promotes the socio-economic development of the Native American Community and others experiencing economic difficulties in the Greater Pittsburgh Area. The Center is open to Native and Non-Native people, with programs to serve all. Many members and friends in our congregation attend the annual COTRAIC pow-wow in September. In addition, we were honored to have Board member Miguel Sague, Jr. address our congregation about the history of indigenous peoples in our area and land acknowledgment.

MID-YEAR CONGREGATIONAL MEETING

UUCNH will hold the Mid-year Congregational meeting this Sunday, January 21, 2024, following the service in the West Room. A light lunch will be provided by the Board. The Youth Group will also be holding their acclaimed Soup Sale.

MESSAGE FROM THE INTERIOR DESIGN TEAM
|
Our new team is a subset of the Building and Grounds Committee. Our purpose is to make the church interior a welcoming, clutter-free, and attractive space. The plan is to monitor what comes into the church, where items should be placed and/or displayed, and where items should be stored when necessary.
We will be coordinating with the Building and Grounds Committee, the Safety Committee, and the Building Campaign project team. We ask that if you want to donate something to the church such as furniture or kitchen gear, or if you plan to store items there for future use, please contact one of us first. Our contact information is in Breeze.
Now is the time to curate what comes into the church as it impacts not only the overall look but also the potential interior changes currently being considered. Ongoing issues have developed over the years, while well-intentioned and generous, from the overflow of some mismatched or unnecessary donated items throughout several areas in the building, including the storage closets. This has necessitated a cleaning effort to make the space more usable and to know what we have.
A big thank you to the Craft Group for purchasing the movable shelving to make storage a lot easier and more efficient.

In the case of INCLEMENT WEATHER, the church may be closed.
On inclement Sundays, review the delays and closing scroll on the ABC TV broadcast station (WTAE) for an announcement about the Unitarian Universalist Church of the North Hills cancellation and/or check the UUCNH Facebook page for information on our closing/delay status.
On weekdays, Church staff will determine if traveling to the church is safe. Staff may work from home on days when the church is closed due to inclement weather. Delayed openings may be in effect as needed; though staff will open the church on time if it is safe to do so.
The decision to close or cancel services and activities will be made by 8:00 a.m. If services/activities are canceled, all ministries are asked to adhere to this policy for the safety of participants and the security of the building.

David and Lori Sours had 2 Joys: Lori is just fine after her gall bladder surgery. She’s resting and relaxing at home. We both appreciate the love and healing thoughts sent from so many of you.
And…..We celebrated our granddaughter Clara’s second birthday last weekend, with her mom, Katie, and dad, Joe, and a beautiful assortment of extended family and friends.

Note: There are times when you may not be able to share during service but want the Congregation to know what is on your heart. In that instance, just contact a member of the Lay Pastoral Care Team (LPCT) in person or submit your Joys & Sorrows electronically by clicking here. Once submitted, the form is sent to all LPCT members. (Chris Hill, Ruth Horwitz, Susan Powers, Lynn Richards, Lynne Herchenroether, Inga Burton-Smith). Please be sure to submit your item by NOON on Saturday at the latest, so we get it in time for Service. Also, LPCT emails are forward to all members of the team.
