Opportunity for Good:
There are still two crucial run-off elections in Georgia for two U.S. Senate seats on January 5, 2021. To be strictly nonpartisan, sign up with Vote Forward and print letters to encourage people to vote.

Our Next Service on December 6th:
December Touchstones Theme: Kindness
Kai Marks, one of UUCC’s favorite guest speakers, returns with a sermon entitled “In a World Where You Can Be Anything, Be Kind.” While most of us would likely consider ourselves to be kind people, most of us would likely also agree that the world we live in is not one where kindness always prevails. Join us with Kai as we explore the power of choosing kindness—because even the smallest act of kindness has the power to transform our life and the lives of others. Music will be provided by pianist Tom Devine and vocalist LindaGrace Frost.

Please join us at 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time

Holiday All-Music Fundraiser on December 20th:
Join us for our popular and heart-felt all music service to celebrate the 2020 Holiday Season. Shauna Pickett-Gordon has a wonderful service planned for us, featuring music, carols, and holiday-inspired readings.

One of our UUCC traditions is to share 100% of our holiday collection with a local nonprofit. This year we are raising funds to support the vital work of the Coastside Adult Day Health Center.

CADHC makes it possible for many local seniors and adults with disabilities to stay at home and out of nursing homes. They do this by providing a safe place to go in the day, while providing health, memory care, activities, and support services. During COVID 19, they managed to pivot and are now providing much of that care at home, all while facing the cancelation of their most important fundraisers, Dream Machines and the Pumpkin Festival.

If you are not able to join us on the 20th, please consider making a donation online or send them a check directly. Be sure and mention that you are with UUCC.
Thank you!
We owe so much to Shauna Pickett-Gordon for her talent, time, and explosion of amazing music she has gifted UUCC since she first played music for us during our Grand Opening in the New Leaf Classroom in May 2016. Shauna has mastered the Zoom media by putting together virtual choir performances for UUCC, Mission Peak UU Community, and for her beloved Scottish Fiddlers. As her energies need to focused elsewhere, she has stepped down from the Planning Committee. She'll continue on as UUCC's Music Director through the end of January 2021. Fortunately, due to Shauna and her singers we have over 60 beautiful recordings of hymns and music to re-use while meeting over Zoom in 2021.
Photos Needed for Holiday Slideshow
We're hoping to create a special slideshow for our holiday fundraising concert on December 20th. Please send in photos celebrating your favorite holiday traditions: whether baking cookies, lighting candles, burning yule logs, wrapping gifts, singing songs, gathering with family and friends, decorating trees, dancing or storytelling. Let's celebrate the many ways we UUs spend the holidays and honor our diversity. Please send photos before December 12th to uucoastside@gmail.com. (Dianne Baker decorates a holiday table for Christmas dinner, fingers crossed.)
UUCC Sunday Service Survey:
What a whirlwind year 2020 has been for all of us! So many of you are responsible for keeping UUCC service continuity going as we switched to an unfamiliar media. Special thanks goes to Bruce Rafnel for his technical expertise which he imparts to all with the patience of a saint. Also, thanks to our other Zoom session managers, Bill Heavlin, Drew Wilson, and Rob Carey—for no matter how good our performers are or how great the music—nothing happens without their behind-the-scenes magic.

The music programming has been extraordinary under the music direction of Shauna Pickett-Gordon, along with our stellar cast of musicians: Tom Devine, LindaGrace Frost, Mo Robinson, Vera Vanderschalk, Krista Enos, The Coastside Threshold Choir, JoAnn Schriner, and the MPUUC Choir.

The service programming has also exceeded our expectations both with professional ministers and lay leaders. Our Zoom ministers this year have been Rev. Barbara Meyers, Rev. Chris Schriner, Rev. Jo Green, Rev. Kirk Loadman-Copeland, and Clovice Lewis, Jr. Our lay speakers have been Bill Heavlin, Elizabeth Winchell, Shauna Pickett-Gordon, Paul K. Davis, Kai Marks, Dave Rokosky, Dianne Baker, Tricia Dell, Verna Barrientos, David Marsland, and Laurel Frishman.

Now it is your turn to review our services in 2020. We are looking to shorten elements of our produced services in 2021 and need your input on what has been working for you and how we can improve.

The first part of the survey will ask you which of our service elements you like most and which elements could be reduced or eliminated altogether. The second part of the survey will provide you with six different options for reimagining UUCC Zoom services in 2021, helping to reduce the overall production load on a very small production team. For a link to the survey, please click here.
