USCCB Urges Senate to Pass Child Tax Credit


The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) is asking Catholics to contact their Senators to strongly urge them to pass a strengthened Child Tax Credit (CTC) that prioritizes the poorest children and maintains CTC eligibility for children in mixed-status families.


The CTC is a powerful pro-family and anti-poverty program that helps the most vulnerable. The CTC helps parents pay for basic necessities for their children, welcome new life, and build their families. It is vital that these benefits are targeted to the families that need them the most.


Senators are urged to work together, as their House counterparts have done, to pass a strengthened CTC that reaches the lowest-income children and to oppose any changes that would weaken the credit for those who are most vulnerable.
