Student Spotlight
University of South Alabama  anthropology  m ajor Antonia Carter has been named a 2018 IDEAS (Increasing Diversity in Evolutionary Anthropological Sciences) Scholar by the American Association of Physical Anthropologists.

Alumni Spotlight
Jonathan Hursh, '04, founded Utopia, a design and urban planning firm, to help the world’s biggest cities harness the power of their most downtrodden inhabitants. "It’s a radically different world that’s coming our way,” he said.

Faculty Spotlight
Dr. Lesley Gregoricka never knows when the phone will ring, but every single call from the Mobile Police Department represents an opportunity to provide not only a community service but invaluable field experience for her most promising forensic anthropology students.

From accelerating drug discovery target identification to improving patient outcomes using data to support clinical decision making, University of South Alabama researchers embracing the rapidly developing field of informatics are producing insights with targeted questions and using sophisticated data interrogation techniques.

Dr. Ylenia Chiari, assistant professor of   biological sciences   at the University of South Alabama, has received international media attention with publication of her innovative research into how the different shells of the famed Galapagos Islands tortoises may have evolved.
