UPMC Enhances Cancer Care in the South East with €7.8 Million Investment

UPMC is investing €7.8 million in upgrading its oncology services in the South East. The first of its new TrueBeam Linear Accelerator machines, equipped with the latest technological advancements, is now in place. Installation of the second machine is now underway. These new machines will deliver shorter treatment times, reduced side effects, and improved outcomes for cancer patients. Throughout 2024, the team at UPMC Hillman Cancer Centre, will seek to further enhance its service through developments such as tattooless radiotherapy, SABR (stereotactic ablative radiotherapy), SRS (stereotactic radiosurgery), and the establishment of clinical trials.

CT Now Available at UPMC Aut Even Hospital

UPMC is delighted to inform you that CT is now available at UPMC Aut Even Hospital, Kilkenny. This service is being provided in partnership with Affidea. Referrals can be made to Affidea via Healthlink.

Lymphatic fluid from surgical drains, which is usually discarded, is a treasure in the hands of University of Pittsburgh and Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis researchers who found that this liquid could inform more precise treatments for patients with head and neck cancer caused by human papillomavirus (HPV).
