Expanding Cardiology Services with EP Studies and Catheter Ablation in Waterford


UPMC Whitfield Hospital has introduced a new EP (electrophysiology) Service offering EP Studies and Catheter Ablation for common cardiac arrhythmias. 

An electrophysiological (EP) study can diagnose specific types of cardiac arrhythmia. The service, which was introduced at UPMC Whitfield Hospital in February of this year is being offered by Prof. Usama Boles and Dr. John O’Dea.

New UPMC and SVPH Partnership Establishes Robotic Surgery Teaching Centre


UPMC and St Vincent’s Healthcare Group (SVHG) have formed a new partnership to increase patient access to life saving technologies and treatments in cardiology, urology, oncology, muscular-skeletal and community care. The SVPH – UPMC Centre of Teaching Excellence in Robotics will be established at St Vincent’s Private Hospital in Dublin.

Jack Gleeson Appointed Associate Professor of Medical Oncology


UPMC is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Jack Gleeson as the new Associate Professor of Medical Oncology at University College Cork (UCC). This is the first of two Oncology professorships funded by UPMC, in collaboration with the National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP).

Diagnosing and Rehabilitating Concussions: Insights from UPMC Sports Medicine Experts


The fifth meeting of the 'Now You Are Up to Date' 2024 CPD Mini-Lecture Series, which features experts from the UPMC Sports Medicine network, takes place on Thursday, 23 May from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Dr. Dualtach Mac Colgain, UPMC Sports Medicine Physician, will present on the topic of 'Diagnosing Concussion What Do Clinical Profiles Tell Us?' while Anne Mucha, coordinator of vestibular rehabilitation for the UPMC Sports Medicine Concussion Program, Pittsburgh, will present on 'Optimal Rehabilitation of Concussion Injury'.
