Liam Peter Cronin passed away peacefully on January 23, 2024, in the loving arms of his parents, Batt Cronin and Patty Ryan.
Liam was an active member of the Miracle League baseball team and a proud Petaluma High School Trojan. He loved listening to any kind of adventure stories, especially Harry Potter and Percy Jackson, and loved attending all the different social events organized by the Common Ground Society. He was always ready for adventure, whether it be ice skating, walks at Armstrong Woods, trips to the zoo, or trips to Costco. Morning dance parties were always a favorite. Mostly, he loved being wherever his family was. His favorite place was always in his dad's lap. His big blue eyes would melt your heart, and his smile would light up your day.
Liam faced a number of challenges throughout his life. He was called on to be courageous more than once, and he rose to the occasion every time until it became apparent it was no longer fair to ask. He was his parents' heart and their world, and he was immensely loved.
In addition to his parents, Liam is survived by his grandparents, John and Betty Cronin, aunts Eilish Cronin (Mick Vaughan), Kathleen Livingstone (Lee), Geraldine Maas (Charlie), Mary Maffei (Mike), Sile O'Riordan (Peter), Linda Ryan (Declan McConn) and uncle Donal Cronin, as well as numerous cousins in the United States and in Ireland. He was greeted in heaven by his grandparents, Peter and Clare Ryan, cousin Aoife McConn, and aunt Noreen O'Connor-Cronin.
Liam had the support of so many amazing people throughout his life. Batt and Patty would like to send their gratitude to their immediate and extended families, as well as to the teams of people who helped Liam thrive. His dedicated team of home nurses, MTU team, teachers, and therapists ensured that Liam was able to explore the world. Dr. Josh Nabotny from the UCSF pain and palliative care team worked tirelessly to give him the best quality of life, as did Cheryl Welch, RN, and Carly Lutz from By the Bay Kids. His family also extends their thanks to Dr. Fiona Marion, Kelly Kim, NP, Dr. Ngoc Ly, Dr. Sue Rhee, and the team of nurses at UCSF who watched over Liam over the last 15 years for their great care. And finally eternal gratitude to Dr. Jeff Meadows, who was Liam's cardiologist from the very beginning, but really took care of all of their hearts.
Friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. at Saint Gabriel Church, 2559 40th Avenue, San Francisco, followed by a Rosary Vigil at 6:00 p.m.
** Liam's Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Saint Gabriel Church. Liam will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetary.
For those unable to attend the Funeral Mass, it will be live-streamed at https://www.viewlogies.net/duggans-serra/gBdqwB7sZ?pin=182248 **
In lieu of flowers, Liam's parents are asking that donations be made in his name to the Miracle League of the North Bay and/or Common Ground Society—two organizations that gave Liam community and the chance to be a kid.
A Celebration of Life will be held for all of his friends in Sonoma at a later date.
