Pastor Cam's Weekend Preview
This Sunday, we will take a closer look at the intersection of justice and love through the lens of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's sermon, "Loving Your Enemies," which he delivered in 1957. Let us listen carefully to how applicable his words still are 65 years later (and, of course, how applicable Jesus' words are over 2,000 years later!). Join us in person or online for worship Sunday at 10 am. Hope to see you there!
Reminder: We have resumed in-person worship and continue to live-stream the service on our website and YouTube channel.
GreenFaith Meeting - 1/22
A message from Janie Schildge: Green Team will meet in the parlor/library area at 11:15 am. Bring your refreshments and come join in a short discussion of our 2023 plans to keep greening our church, property and homes, as faithful stewards of our planet Earth. Please bring your ideas, as well as the recycling rules for your town. Many towns have updated the guidelines and we want to educate our congregation on new rules in effect. We will share our green faith certification since 2010 and results of our carbon savings since then. Happy New Year to all and hope to see you there!
UWF Craft Group- 1/24
Craft Group will be meeting on Tuesday, January 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Lobby above the Church Library. Come for all or whatever portion of that time you have available. Bring your snack/cold drink for our short lunch break - or you can make a hot drink in the kitchen. Our main focus in January will be creating Valentine cards, but anyone who likes to knit, crochet or do another craft, is welcome to bring their handiwork to do with us!
We will be featuring our VALENTINE CARDS on Sunday mornings after Church, along with our usual assortment of cards. Let us know if you would like us to design specific cards for you. Your purchases (at $1.00 a card) help United Women in Faith make their budgeted mission donations.
Any questions? Contact Peggy Wien at 732-842-5424.
Book Club Meeting- 1/26
Book Club will be meeting on Thursday, January 26 at 1 p.m. in the Lounge. Our book for January is "The American Adventuress" by C. W. Gortner. Read about Jennie Jerome who married Randolph Spencer-Churchill. One of their sons was Winston Churchill.
Our book to discuss on February 23 is "More Than You'll Ever Know" by Katie Gutierrez. The description states that this novel is told through alternating timelines and is both a gripping mystery and a wrenching family drama.
All are welcome to come to Book Club meetings! For more information, contact Helen Vetter or Peggy Wien.
No Yoga Class 2/15 and 2/22
Please note: there will be no yoga class on February 15th and 22nd. If you would like a video recording of a previous class, please contact Amanda at office@umcredbank.org to request one by email.

Adult Education -
Join Us for Two New & Inspiring Lessons
Wednesdays Online & Sundays at UMC Red Bank
-On Sunday mornings, starting 1/22 in the Lounge here at UMC Red Bank, we will begin Joan Chittister’s video series on Spirituality, Self, and Society. Sister Joan Chittister, a member of the Order of Saint Benedictine Sisters of Erie, PA, has been a highly influential religious and social leader and an advocate for peace, women’s rights, human rights, and church renewal for over 40 years. The video series addresses the challenges of living a purposeful life defined by compassion and care for others. In that spirit of unity, Chittister invites an interfaith panel to join her in broadening the conversation.
-On Wednesday evenings, starting 1/25, Ken Glossbrenner will be leading us in a study of Climate Church, Climate World - How people of faith must work for change by Jim Antal, United Church of Christ. Climate Church, Climate World contends that climate change is the greatest moral challenge humanity has ever faced. Hunger, refugees, poverty, inequality, deadly viruses, war—climate change multiplies all forms of global social injustice. Environmental advocate, Rev. Jim Antal, calls on the church to meet this moral challenge: to embrace a new vocation so that future generations might live in harmony with God’s creation. After illuminating how human beings are responsible for the dangers our planet now faces, Antal proposes how people of faith can embrace new approaches to worship, preaching, witnessing, and other spiritual practices that honor creation and cultivate hope.
