UAB Mobile Sim Delivers Obstetric Emergency Training

UAB Mobile Simulation is a literal driving force in obstetric emergency education throughout rural Alabama. 


This past February, the mobile sim team visited J. Paul Jones Hospital and Cahaba Medical Care in Camden, Ala., as well as Greene County Hospital in Eutaw, Ala., to deliver simulation experiences focused on rapid labor, more commonly known as precipitous delivery.

Russell Medical Celebrates Grand Opening of Sim Space


In a significant stride toward advancing health-care education, Russell Medical Center in Alexander City, Ala., celebrated the grand opening of its dedicated simulation space for learners, and UAB Mobile Simulation made a special trip to join in the February festivities.


“Simulation is an effective learning tool, as I have experienced first hand the use of the tools and success of our staff after the training provided,” said Allyson Garrett, R.N., education and employee health nurse with Russell Medical.

Mobile Sim, Regional Medical Center Partner for Code Blue Training


When it comes to authentic simulation experience, UAB Mobile Simulation delivers.


In March, the mobile sim team and Regional Medical Center of Central Alabama in Greenville, Ala., conducted an immersive simulation focused on Code Blue response.


This simulation, set within the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), centered on a simulated cardiac arrest scenario, pushing health-care learners to their limits as they navigated its numerous complexities.

Empathy in Action: Patient Care Experience at Lakeland


The UAB Mobile Simulation team, in collaboration with Lakeland Community Hospital in Haleyville, Ala., orchestrated a patient care experience simulation this past March.


The primary focus of the simulation was to immerse participants in the lived experiences of patients and their families. Through a series of conscientiously crafted scenarios, learners were confronted with the discomforts, communication barriers, and feelings of depersonalization that can be associated with hospitalization.
