President's Message

Summer Greetings! I hope everyone is staying cool, going on vacation, having fun at the beach, cruising the deep blue sea, making some homemade ice cream......NO? Well me either. We are as busy as always in our office and I am sure all of you are too.

But, if you attended our Summer Momentum Conference in June at the beautiful La Torretta Lake Resort in Conroe, Texas it was a "little pretend" vacation. We had a great turnout of about 95 attendee's and 20 of those were first timers. I would like to thank everyone who attended for making this one of our best conferences. The executive board, board of directors and committees did an awesome job preparing and presenting this conference. We had a lot of very good and encouraging feedback on the Conference Evaluation Sheets and we will so our best to continue to improve and meet your expectations in the upcoming events.

As you all know TxPPA has been managed by MPIRE Management Group since July, 2011. From the very beginning MPIRE took our organization to the next level of excellence, they have been a valuable source of information, help and as an extra bonus; we have made some good friends with the wonderful people in their group of professional staff. In April 2014 we received MPIRE's written notification for their six month termination of the contract effective September 30, 2014. MPIRE is working with TxPPA on a "business as usual" level in assuring the needs of our organization are being handled. They are on track in securing as much of the Fall Conference details as possible before they leave. We appreciate this the efforts put forward by MPIRE over the last couple of years and will miss working with them.

TxPPA put out an RFP for a Management Company/Executive Director and we received three proposals. The evaluation committee selected their top pick, Prairie Republic as the new Executive Director. Most of you already know Charles Oberrender (dba Prairie Republic) and know with his vested time and the passion for TxPPA he will do the organization a great job and will strive to build a strong relationship with all of us. Charles has already hit the floor running and he is working with MPIRE to ensure a smooth transition so that TxPPA members are impacted in the least possible manner.

With that announcement brings some change to the executive board. Charles resigned his position of Vice President so he could pursue this new endeavor.

Executive Board:

  • Donna Riley President
  • David Setzer Vice President, automatically moved up
  • Richard Bennett Secretary, automatically moved up
  • Mary Quinones Treasurer, approved by the Board of Directors

The planning of the Fall Conference at the Radisson in Fort Worth, November 5 - 7, 2014 is coming along nicely. We already have great speakers and educational workshops lined up and have a dinner and "Casino Night" planned at the hotel. The registration and the hotel link just went "live" on our web site....so get those registrations made early.

Hope to see everyone in Fort Worth in November....stay cool and have a great rest of the Summer!!!!!!!
