Hi Church --
If you are reading this, you have received my very first email update as the new pastor of Parkway!
Packing, moving, getting settled in a new house, and celebrating Christmas has been a blur, but Courtney, Ellis, Maggie, and I are thrilled to be here and finally meet our new Parkway family.
It is easy for pastors in a new role to put a lot of importance on the first Sunday or the first sermon. But even on a Sunday where everything goes according to plan (are those even real?) or after the best sermon ever preached, there can still be a sense of ‘that’s great, but who is this guy?’ That is why the Parkway Board and I have built something new that we hope will help us to get to know each other better as we look towards the future together.
On Sunday, January 15th, the Parkway Board will be hosting TWO events. The first is Coffee and Conversation with Justin (and John!). During both the 9am and 10:30am services, John Stacy will host and moderate a conversation with me in the time where I would normally preach. John will begin with some questions that will help you get to know me. Then there will be a chance for anyone in the congregation to submit a question. You will be able to text in your questions before and during the conversation and we will do our best to get to all of them. A phone number for the questions to be texted to will be provided that morning before the service begins.
If we don’t get to your question, don’t worry! After Coffee and Conversation with Justin at the 10.30am service, the board will host a Chili Potluck! You can click on the following link to find out more information about the Chili Potluck, and sign up to bring Chili: https://www.fellowshiponegiving.com/App/Form/dd48d758-7f7f-4835-8bba-ab953f01b9cb.
The family and I will stick around to eat chili, meet more people, and answer any questions you have. If you think your question might need some time or a conversation, let’s find a time to talk over coffee or in my office.
I’m looking forward to the exciting things coming up on the 15th and for all of the good ministry that is ahead of us. See y’all soon!
Justin
