Cadets may require extra support when Two Factor Authentication (2FA) becomes mandatory for eServices on January 2, 2024. Check out the guidance below to help your unit transition well.

Moving to Two Factor Autentication (2FA) is an important upgrade to help protect member data and financial payment processes within eServices. The below information will help you prepare your cadets, parents and adult leaders for the transition.

Learn more about 2FA

Members, cadets included, will have three options for 2FA including "Authenticator App", SMS (text message), and email. Proactively set up your 2FA account before the forced transition by using these instructions:

Best Practices to help cadets transition to Two-Factor Authentication

  1. Identify a cadet or senior in the unit who can assist with 2FA transition help
  2. Host an assembly for your membership and cadet parents to explain the transition
  3. Offer a time during the weekly meeting to help families of cadets who need 2FA setup help
  4. Remind cadets to make sure they include a variety of emails/phone numbers in their 2FA setup:
  • Include a school email if they need to access eServices during the school day (some school routers will block emails external to their network)
  • Include a home email (their own and/or a parent)
  • Include their cell phone and a parent if needed
  • Remind cadets how to change these settings when their phone, phone number or email changes

Best Practices for Squadron Leaders

  1. Have the cadet call the parent if the cadet needs the code and they utilize a family/parent contact
  2. Having a testing officer proctor with a hardcopy test if a cadet needs testing access and they do not remember their password or have access for 2FA

Thank you for supporting the cadets,
