Peter Martelli, Healthcare Administration, has been granted a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program award for the 2021-22 year. He will be based in Tbilisi, Georgia, and his project aims to help improve quality and safety in the Georgian healthcare system through a combination of teaching and research. Martelli is the third Sawyer Business School professor to receive a Fulbright award in the past three years.

Earlier this month, Martelli and the Healthcare Administration Department hosted the 23rd annual Organization Theory in Health Care Association conference. It was the first time Suffolk University has hosted this prestigious international meeting. Through papers, posters, and symposia, the virtual attendees focused on the topic of coordination of work in healthcare.

Sonia Alleyne, MPA '01, Institute for Public Service, participated in a panel on “Race in the Workplace,” hosted by the UMass Boston Emerging Leaders Alumni Network. Attendees discussed their personal experiences, how they became an ally in the workplace, and how they encourage their respective employers to make space for honest discussions. In addition, they discussed being deliberate in the changes they want to see, particularly focused on company recruitment.
