Fall Class List

is Being Finalized!

Sally has been hard at work compiling class ideas and instructors with skills and knowledge to share. Once we've got all the I's dotted and T's crossed, it will go live on the web for registration and you will receive a class email. Keep an eye out!

In the meantime, we have classes this Saturday along with the Tiny Vegan Food Truck! We have hosted them a couple times now and everyone loves their food. Don't miss them this Saturday at noon!

Please park in our back lot. Access the lot by pulling in between the service and fire station and driving past the Larus Park entrance. You will see our lot on the right marked with a blue balloon. Thank you!!

MYO Monarch Caterpillar Waystation

August 19th, 11am $5

presentation

It's monarch season! Monarchs need our help more than ever right now. Their numbers have been drastically declining since the 1990's and, in July of 2022, they were classified as being endangered. Join Sally, our amateur lepidopterist and Monarch Waystation veteran to learn more about these majestic butterflies. She will discuss their migration, lifecycle, and what it takes to manage Sneed's waystation. She will wrap up with a list of what you need to recreate a waystation at your home.

Apiary Preparations for the Cold Months

August 19th, 2pm $5

presentation

It’s hard to believe that Fall and Winter are right around the corner! Now’s the time to prepare your apiary for the cold months ahead. Planning is key to bee-ing successful in your endeavors. Whether you tend Langstroth, Warre, Top Bar, or any other obscure beehive styles, Cat, our seasoned and flamboyant Apiarist, will have answers to your queries! Some common questions include: “Which tasks need to be tackled in the Bee yard before the frost comes? How can I determine the health of a beehive from the outside, without opening it? How much honey should I remove from my hives, and what’s vital to leave for the honeybees? How do I protect them from all that rain? Which pollinator plant seeds require stratification to effectively germinate come Spring?” Helpful handouts listing resources will be provided.
