2023 Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA)

We are asking each family to consider making a tax-deductible gift today if you have not done so.

We would like to thank all those generous individuals who have made a pledge to the 2023 Annual Catholic Appeal in our parish. A full description of the organizations and people helped by ACA can be found here:

https://catholicfoundationbq.org/annual-catholic-appeal/

If you are on PushPay, you can participate by selecting the ACA fund.

Once we exceed our goals, we then receive 100% of all funds above this directly back to the parishes. Thank you as always for your generosity!

New Faces and New Things for a New Pastoral Year

Thursday, Sept. 14 at ABVM hall, in-person

September brings a new beginning after the summer. With the new pastoral year, you will find there are some new faces at the Oratory Parishes. On Thursday, September 14th, at 7:00pm, there will be an opportunity to meet the new pastoral staff at an in-person gathering and learn about our plans for the new year including some new initiatives. Come and introduce yourself to the new ministerial team for the 2023-2024 pastoral year in the air-conditioned parish hall at Assumption. All parishioners from the Oratory Parishes of Assumption and St Boniface are welcome to attend.

St. Boniface Homecoming Sunday

As is our tradition, on Sunday, September 17, St Boniface will celebrate the start of the fall season with the choir and a coffee hour highlighting all the activities in which parishioners can participate.

Save the Date

Homecoming Sunday will take place at Assumption on October 1.

Oratory Evening Prayer: Monday, October 2

Come and join in the prayer of the Fathers of the Oratory. We will listen to the Sunday scriptures, reflect, share, and encourage one another in the spirit of St. Philip Neri. Oratory Evening Prayer gathers on the first Monday of the month from 6:15pm to 7:15pm in Assumption Hall. You are welcome!

The Season of Creation

The Season of Creation spans five weeks between the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation (September 1) and the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi (October 4). This “time for creation” offers, in the words of Pope Francis, “individual believers and communities a fitting opportunity to reaffirm their personal vocation to be stewards of creation, to thank God for the wonderful handiwork which he has entrusted to our care, and to implore his help for the protection of creation as well as his pardon for the sins committed against the world in which we live." How will you live out these three dimensions of Pope Francis’ call? Need ideas? See this resource:

RCIA: A New Season Starting This October

The “Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults” (RCIA) is for men and women who are considering the Catholic way of life and want to explore the Catholic faith more deeply. Some come with little or no religious background. Some were raised in other Christian denominations. Others are engaged to or married to Catholics and want to learn more. Some are baptized Catholics who practiced their faith up to a certain point in their lives and now wish to complete the sacraments of initiation (First Communion and/or Confirmation). The 2023/2024 RCIA program will begin in mid-October, meeting both on Zoom and in person following Sunday Mass at one of the Oratory parishes. All inquiries are welcome and will be kept confidential. To find out more, contact RCIA coordinators Rob and Nadine, faith@oratorychurch.org.
