Strings and Gardening Summer Camps
|
|
We had a wonderful summer camp week hosting our Orchestra String Fling and Gardening Camp and the Advanced Chamber Music and Orchestra Camp.
Our older students formed quartets and played in an orchestra performance at the end of the week. Younger students enjoyed time in the garden with Mr. Grimes and also performed as an orchestra at week’s end. And everyone got to enjoy a fun weaving project with Ms. Petersilge!

Community News and Events

Some of the most important relationships in a child’s life are the relationships with their teachers. Waldorf education and the training, dedication and commitment it involves, is particularly rewarding and demanding.
The Board of Trustees of Spring Garden Waldorf School has embarked on a process to develop a plan for improving wages and benefits to reflect the value that our faculty contribute to the SGWS educational experience. This work will also be integral to support recruiting, retaining and rewarding Waldorf educators in the future. The process will include an analysis and comparison of compensation packages that are offered at other Waldorf schools and at area private, parochial schools and public schools.
The proposed work is intended to develop a plan for adjusting salaries and benefits and strategies for revenue generation to offset increased compensation costs. Engaging the faculty, staff, parents and board in the planning process will be essential to understanding the needs and aspirations and setting realistic expectations.
We will continue to update our community about this work and will be reaching out for input at the beginning of our school year. If you have any questions about this work, please contact Amy Hecky at ahecky@sgws.org.
