Practice Self-Care This Holiday Season
By Elaine Campbell, DO
|
|
As a medical practice, this time of year can be REALLY BUSY. Colder temperatures keep people indoors, where they are more susceptible to germs. The busyness of the holidays stresses immune systems, so our exam rooms stay packed with people. Then someone in the office gets sick, and those who manage to stay healthy are saddled with even more to do!
When your “day job” is to take care of others, it can be overwhelming. This can also compound the pressure, anxiety and sadness that comes with what should be a joyful time of year.
Remember that you cannot care for others if you are not caring for yourself. Even if it means skipping a party or leaving a chore undone, squeeze in some
you
time.

to see a short list of things I do to beat the holiday blues. I hope you find it to be a helpful way to make the holidays truly happy!

Breathe Deeply to Relieve Holiday Stress
By
Claire Presswood, MD
|
Deep breathing exercises can help you feel calm and relaxed, and lower stress in your body. When you breathe deeply, you are sending signals to your brain to calm down, and your brain, in turn, sends this message to the rest of your body.
Take a moment and find a quiet place where you won’t be interrupted to practice some deep breathing exercises:
|
|
- Sit or stand with good posture, or lie flat on the floor with your hand on your belly.
- Inhale through your nose for four seconds and let your belly push your hand out.
- Hold for four seconds.
- Exhale through pursed lips for four seconds and feel the hand on your belly go in.
- Hold for four seconds.
- Repeat this cycle three to 10 times.

Tryon Direct: How Direct Primary Care Can Cut Healthcare Waste
|
|
Did you know:
- Healthcare and insurance industries generate $750B in waste each year?
- In 2018, Americans spent $2.5 trillion on healthcare? That’s $10,739 per person. (In Charlotte, the cost is 20% higher.)
- Across the U.S., the rate of specialist referrals has increased by 94% over the past 10 years?
Due to time pressures driven by high patient loads, primary care physicians delegate nearly 40% of primary care services that they could handle if they had more time to do so.
|
|
In a perfect world, a primary care physician would have the time to forge a strong relationship with not only his or her patient, but a team of in-house specialists to provide continuity of care.
Tryon Medical Partners is building that perfect world, and
Tryon Direct is bringing that unique healthcare model to businesses struggling to afford a quality healthcare solution to keep their employees healthy.
Is Tryon Direct working? Absolutely. We are getting amazing feedback from our current companies, and four more have signed on for 2020.
|
|
THANK YOU for all that you do to make our Tryon Direct clients' employees (our patients) feel welcome.

Good Things Come in T+ Packages
Every day our patients fill these boxes with kind words of appreciation for team partners who go above and beyond. If a patient tells you about a "T+ moment" with you, encourage them to share their positive experience by filling out a T+ card and putting it in this special box. Good things happen when team partners help one another get the recognition we deserve.
