Who is there to help us when life gets hard?

Hello Kathryn,

I hope that you are enjoying your Summer. As I write this my son’s baseball game was cancelled because of rain. Secretly I am happy because I get a Monday night at home, but he is sad because he really wanted to play. We went through the same circumstance, a cancelled baseball game, but have different experiences in the same circumstances. He is sad through this circumstance but I am happy through this circumstance. Why is that? The reason is that we have different perspectives in the circumstances. He has so much energy he wants to play baseball and I have been so busy I want rest.

When we experience setbacks, disappointments or even God ordained trials there is power in perspective. Just like the story of Job. He chose to continue to praise the Lord, honor the Lord and be obedient to the Lord in the hardest trial of his life. His famous words, “The Lord giveth, the Lord taketh away, blessed be the name of the Lord.” I believe that his perspective was much like David. He believed that he would see the goodness of God in the land of the living.

When life turns into a stormy sea, we have to remember who our God is. If we keep the perspective that He is eternally good and trust Him, we will not turn our test into a temptation. When we live the Christian life with this perspective, our faith is this simple. I sought the Lord, and He heard and He answered.

For the last few weeks, I have sought the Lord, and He heard and He answered. It is sometimes the still small voice but sometimes its action. Either way, I will still seek and trust Him because He is good.

If we have a different perspective, we can be tempted to turn our test into a temptation. We can fall prey to the enemy’s schemes and walk right off the path that leads to blessing and onto the path that leads to destruction.

I pray that you keep the right perspective in your trials. Seek God, Trust God and He will never fail you.

Until next time!
