Meet the Makers!
This Friday, 3/2, we are honored to welcome
Arethusa Farm
to American Provisions!
Based in Litchfield, CT, Arethusa produces stunning cheeses from the milk of its herd of Holstein, Brown Swiss and Jersey cows. Owners George Malkemus and Anthony Yurgaitis purchased the farm in 1999 in an effort to preserve the heritage farmland. Originally a liquid milk operation, the farm added cheese and ice cream to its offerings within these past 9 years. And they had every reason to know they'd crush it: their milking gals Veronica and Melanie had both already claimed the title of Supreme Champion of World Dairy Expo in Wisconsin! The remarkable smoothness of texture, the sumptuous balance of butterfat and structure, the subtle grassy undertones from pasturing the herd, and the undeniable deliciousness and variety of its cheeses make Arethusa one of our most beloved producers.
Please join us on Friday from 5:30-7 to meet the maker and enjoy samples of these award-winning wheels!
...then on Saturday...
Join us again as we welcome one of our long-time favorite makers,
V Smiley Preserves
! Raised on the very Vermont farm she has returned to, V grows many of her own ingredients and uses raw honey as the sole sweetener for her preserves. The pureness of fruit flavor is unsurpassed, and we have taken to pairing these beautiful jams with our cheeses, our cookies, and, well, our spoons.
V will be in-shop this Saturday, 3/2 from 11-1. See you here, then!

Thursday Beer Tasting
5:30-7pm
Look y'all, we're not gonna argue with March announcing itself with a 60˚ sunny day. In fact, we're gonna embrace it and go full tropical up in this spot! Join us Thursday for a li'l island getaway inspiration, as we sip on two of our favorite pineapple brews: Upland Brewing Co
's Revive and
Marz Community Brewing Co
's Lost Lake Piranhanas #2. One sour, one hop-fiend, both juicy and thirst-quenching as a piña colada on a white sand beach on a remote island in, like, July. COME DRINK 'EM!

Friday Wine Tasting
5:30 -7 pm
...and then I guess there's a Nor-Easter coming? Whatever, just keep drinking.
This Friday we're pouring some floral, herbaceous, plummy li'l babes: Chateau le Bergy 2016 Bordeaux and Domaine Durieu 2016 Ventoux. Two of our favorite French reds, these wines deliver big, juicy red fruit at undeniably crushable price-points.
Salute!
