The Ministry of Hospitality

St. Benedict teaches us that in welcoming guests, we are welcoming Christ.

This teaching invites us to look into our hearts as well as our routines. We were each welcomed here, and I dream of this parish being a place where people can find hope, joy, compassion and deep welcome. There are many ways to work toward that goal but it will take all of us.

I am inviting EVERYONE to consider how you are called to the ministry of true hospitality.

Things to think about:

  • Would you be willing to say “hello” to people as they arrive or leave?

  •  Would you be interested in sitting with a group to think through how we can be more loving and welcoming?

Pray about it. More details coming next week.

“What can I do right now?” Wear your name tag. If you need a name tag, we can order one for you.

Lectio Divina

with Tom Rotella

Join me for a Lectio Divina small group. Lectio is an ancient practice of reading scripture and letting the words speak directly to you, your life experiences and what is on your heart.

If you have never done Lectio Divina, which means divine reading, it is simple and you can’t make a mistake. There will be a number of us in the group who will guide you along with way.

We will read texts from a variety of sacred traditions.

We will also read some contemporary poetry and inspirational writings.

The group will meet for six weeks every Thursday morning (except July 4th) in the Lounge from 10:00 to 11:30 am beginning June 20th and ending August 1st.

Registration is not required.

Each week I will provide you with a copy of the reading. So come as you are able. You will be most welcome. And please know that whatever you share within the group is confidential.

This Is What Love Looks Like!

Here's a scene from last week's service when we honored all those who help our youth grow.

Discover Your Ministry with EfM

Have you ever felt a deeper calling within your faith journey but weren’t sure how to respond? Education for Ministry (EfM) might be the path for you. EfM is designed to equip laypeople with the education and skills necessary to live out their baptismal ministry.

EfM is more than just a course; it’s a transformative journey. Over four years, participants engage in an in-depth study of the scriptures, church history, and theology. This study is enriched through prayer, guided reflection, and discussion within a supportive community. It’s a safe space where you can deepen your understanding of your faith and its place in your life and the world.

One of the unique aspects of EfM is its focus on theological reflection. By examining your own beliefs and understanding how they interact with our culture and Christian traditions, you learn to think theologically about your daily life. This process helps you discern how to be an effective minister in the world, whether in your personal, professional, or community life.

The journey through EfM reveals that every action, no matter how small, has the potential to manifest Christ’s love. You’ll discover that your ministry isn’t limited to church activities but is present wherever you turn.

We invite you to join us in this enriching program. Whether you feel a specific call to ministry or simply wish to explore your faith more deeply, EfM offers the tools and community to support you on this journey.
