NCAI Announces 2022 Executive Council Winter Session Dates
The 2022 Executive Council Winter Session is the constitutionally-mandated annual meeting of the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI)'s Executive Council, one of NCAI's three main governing bodies. As the representative body of NCAI's member tribes, the Executive Council acts on any issues brought upon by its members.
This meeting also presents an opportunity for tribal delegates to meet with members of Congress and the Administration to help strengthen the government-to-government relationship between Tribal Nations and the federal government.

2022 State of Indian Nations Address
Each year, the President of the National Congress of American Indians presents the State of Indian Nations address to members of Congress, government officials, tribal leaders and citizens, and the American public.
To facilitate direct engagement between Congress and Tribal Nations, a member of Congress is invited each year to deliver a Congressional response to the State of Indian Nations. Previous Congressional speakers have included Senator Maria Cantwell, Senator Lisa Murkowski, and Representative Tom Cole, among others. The event concludes with a live, interactive Q&A session with the audience, press, and those engaging via social media.

Notice of Funding Opportunity for the Nationally Significant Federal Lands and Tribal Projects (NSFLTP) Program
The Federal Highway Administration today published a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) in the Federal Register for $100 million for the Nationally Significant Federal Lands and Tribal Projects (NSFLTP) Program.
The Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act (FAST-Act) established the program to provide federal financial assistance for the construction, reconstruction or rehabilitation of transportation projects providing access to or located next to or on federal or tribal lands.
Under the NSFLTP, the federal share of a project can be up to 90 percent and must be used to improve the condition of a critical transportation facility. Projects over $50M are encouraged but the program will accept project applications $25M or higher. Federal lands and tribes can apply directly for grants under the program. States and local agencies may also apply, but only if sponsored by a federal land management agency or tribe.

Bipartisan Infrastructure Law
Join FTA for a detailed look at the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and how it will be implemented through FTA’s programs at a webinar scheduled for 2 p.m. ET Friday, January 7, 2022.
The legislation, which authorizes up to $108 billion for public transportation over five years, is the largest federal investment in transit in the nation’s history. The legislation supports new programs – or supplements existing ones – to enhance safety, modernize and repair transit assets, confront climate change, and improve transit service for communities, including substantial upgrades to station accessibility.
FTA staff will review programmatic changes authorized under the legislation, including creation of four new programs, and how FTA will put funding to work to support transit systems throughout America. The webinar will include a question and answer session.

|
This website, below, will be a critical tool for sharing information, serving as a one-stop shop online for transportation agencies and others interested in learning more about new and existing FHWA programs as well as how to apply for grants and other discretionary funding opportunities available under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
|
|
FTA has posted fact sheets for transit agencies, recipients of federal funding, and other transit stakeholders to provide detailed information about planned implementation of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. President Biden signed the legislation, which authorizes up to $108 billion, including $91 billion in guaranteed funding for public transportation, on November 15.
The fact sheets include information on fiscal year funding allocations, statutory references, eligible recipients, eligible activities, as well as details on new programs or changes to existing programs.
FTA also will conduct webinars and additional outreach in the coming weeks and months to solicit input and support the implementation of this historic investment in public transportation.
