Traveling Our National Scenic Byways

With spring break and summer just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about vacations and road trips! Some of the best road-trip destinations are our national scenic byways, where you can journey through America’s most breathtaking landscapes. From majestic mountains to coastal vistas, there’s something for everyone to marvel at along these routes, so buckle up and let’s hit the road!

According to the National Scenic Byway Foundation, “‘America’s Byways’ are a collection of scenic and culturally significant roads, highways, and routes in the U.S.” Known as national scenic byways and All-American Roads (the best of the byways), “they have been chosen for their exceptional scenic, natural, historic, cultural, archeological or recreational value by the U.S. Secretary of Transportation since 1996.” There are currently 184 national scenic byways in 48 states. Thirty-seven of these are All-American Roads. For a list of byways by state, visit the foundation’s Travel Byways page.

We want to hear from you! Have you taken any of our byways tours? Do you think there’s a great byway we should add to our library? Let us know! Share your favorite scenic byway experiences, photos, tips, and suggestions here.
