Consumer Success

A consumer recently expressed they would like to get a bike to use for transportation around the community. Our Community Inclusion Specialist went to work on finding a bike that could be donated.

The staff member located an organization called, “The Raleigh Community Kickstand” and was able to identify a bike that matched the consumer’s needs. RCK delivered the bike to the consumer's home, and donated a helmet and bike lock as well. This consumer now has a new apartment and a way to travel around her community!
Overcoming Challenges
A Consumer has been struggling with establishing independence during COVID-19. They decided to learn how to ride the bus independently while practicing social distancing.

The ADANC Travel Trainer noticed the consumer's progress. The consumer understood and followed the safety procedures, and got into the habit of boarding from the back of bus . She also learned that the buses have suspended fare collections due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Travel Training's Impact in the Community
Travel Training is one of several programs we offer, and couldn't happen without community support. A small monthly donation will make a lasting impact on the lives of our consumers and the disability community.

AmazonSmile customers can now support Alliance Of Disability Advocates in the Amazon shopping app on iOS and Android mobile phones! Simply follow these instructions to turn on AmazonSmile and start generating donations.

  1. Open the Amazon Shopping app on your device
  2. Go into the main menu of the Amazon Shopping app and tap into 'Settings'
